Then check which parts use Hall-effect sensing—sticks, triggers, or both—and whether the controller offers the calibration, dead-zone, trigger-stop, and remapping options you want. Hall-effect sensing can reduce reliance on conventional contact-based stick sensors, but it does not make a controller immune to drift, wear, setup problems, or failure.
What Hall-effect sensing does—and what it does not
Hall-effect sensors detect changes in a magnetic field to read a control’s position. In a controller, that can be used in thumbsticks, triggers, or both. The label alone does not tell you which components use it; check the specifications for the exact model.
It is a useful feature to consider if you want to avoid the particular wear associated with conventional contact-based stick sensing. It is not a guarantee against every cause of inaccurate input. Calibration, dead-zone settings, component quality, and eventual wear still matter. GameSir’s support material, for example, discusses calibration and apparent G7 SE drift when the initial dead zone is set to zero (GameSir’s G7 HE FAQ).
Compare the Xbox and PC connection separately
A controller advertised for both Xbox and PC may use different connection methods on each. Do not assume that “tri-mode” means wireless Xbox play. Check the manufacturer’s stated mode for the console and computer you own.

These are manufacturer-listed features, not independent test results. Product configurations can change, so confirm the exact model or revision before buying. The G7 Pro’s “Tri-Mode” label should not be read as wireless Xbox support: GameSir specifies wired use on Xbox.
What to look for beyond the sensor label
Sensor placement
Check whether Hall-effect sensing applies to the thumbsticks, triggers, or both. For example, GameSir lists Hall-effect triggers and Hall-effect or TMR stick options for the G7 Pro, while the G7 SE page lists Hall-effect sticks and triggers. TMR is a distinct sensor label, not another way of saying Hall effect.

Calibration and dead zones
Look for a calibration process and adjustable stick and trigger zones. A smaller dead zone can make small movements register sooner, but if a stick reports input while untouched, setting the dead zone to zero may expose that behavior rather than cure it. GameSir’s support guidance makes calibration and dead-zone adjustment relevant considerations even for a Hall-effect model.
Trigger stops, remapping, and profiles
Consider whether the controller has trigger stops if you prefer a shorter trigger pull, and whether its extra buttons can be remapped. Software profiles and adjustable zones are useful if you switch games or want different input setups. GameSir lists switchable micro-switch trigger stops and extra controls on the G7 Pro; its G7 SE materials describe software settings and profiles. 8BitDo lists Ultimate Software customization and profiles for its wired Xbox controller.

Which of these controllers fits your needs?
Choose the GameSir G7 Pro if you want more connection and control options
The G7 Pro is the most configurable of these listed candidates if you want PC wireless as well as wired use, extra controls, and switchable trigger stops, and you are comfortable using a cable on Xbox. GameSir advertises a 1000 Hz polling rate for PC over wired and 2.4 GHz connections; that is a manufacturer specification, not an independently measured performance result.
Choose the GameSir G7 SE if you want a simpler wired option
The G7 SE is a straightforward choice to consider for wired Xbox or Windows use if you want Hall-effect sticks and triggers plus software customization. Its calibration and dead-zone controls are particularly relevant if you plan to tune input response.

Choose the 8BitDo Ultimate Wired Controller if you want wired play and stick sensing
8BitDo’s Xbox model emphasizes a wired connection, Hall-effect joysticks, and software profiles. Check the current model or revision and its PC compatibility details if you intend to use it beyond Xbox.
