It depends on the ending. After The Tower ending from Phantom Liberty—the outcome of “Things Done Changed”—Cyberpunk 2077 does not return you to the Point of No Return. What happens after The Tower ending?
If you complete “Things Done Changed” and reach The Tower ending, the game does not send you back to the Point of No Return. CD PROJEKT RED’s official support article describes this as intentional. The studio explains that returning to the earlier point after this ending would create an “uncanny narrative experience.” It also says the epilogue grants no rewards, so the game allows V’s story to end.

Does every ending send you back to the Point of No Return?
The available official documentation confirms the no-return behavior for The Tower, but it does not establish the post-ending behavior of every other path. It also does not document a universal “one more gig” rule or which rewards carry over across endings. The distinction matters: The Tower support page is specific to that ending, not a general description of all endings.

Should you make a separate save before the ending?
Yes, if you want a fallback for choices or outcomes that cannot be undone. CD PROJEKT RED’s save guidance recommends saving often and keeping more than one save file as a backup because some decisions cannot be taken back.
- Before committing to an ending, create a manual save. Keep it separate from the save you normally use so it remains available if you want to return to that point.
- Keep more than one backup. The developer recommends multiple save files; do not rely on a single slot if preserving an earlier state matters to you.
- For The Tower, treat the earlier save as your route back. The official support article says completing this ending will not return you to the Point of No Return.
Does the game version change this advice?
Version context is worth noting, but it does not resolve every ending’s behavior. CD PROJEKT RED’s Update 2.0 announcement, dated September 21, 2023, described a major revision and said existing saves could still be continued after that update. That historical compatibility note is not a post-ending rule, and it does not establish how every ending behaves in the current version.
