One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchStart a failed Salesforce Flow investigation with the error email: note the exact message, flow name and version, and the named element. Then use Flow Builder’s debugger to follow the run and inspect values; capture a Setup debug log when you need transaction-level detail such as SOQL, DML, Apex, or governor-limit events. Use rollback mode when debugging if you need to avoid committing changes.
Start with the flow error email
Before opening Flow Builder, record the error email’s exact wording, flow name and version, failed element, and any stack trace. Salesforce says the email can identify these details and may include elements that ran. The element’s API name or label points you to the relevant part of the flow. Use the version named in the email rather than assuming the active version is the one that failed. Salesforce Help: Troubleshoot Flow Errors.
Open that flow version, locate the named element, and check its inputs, the record values available to it, and the entry criteria that led to it. For example, if a Send Email element reports a missing RecipientId input, inspect the recipient input rather than changing unrelated flow logic.
A flow run can fail at more than one element, or multiple records in a batch can encounter errors. Salesforce notes that this can produce multiple emails or one email listing an error for each failure. Treat each named element and message as a separate diagnostic clue.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose the diagnostic method that answers your question
| Method | Best for | Important consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Failure email | Quickly identifying the flow, version, failed element, and error wording. | Use the named element and literal message to focus the investigation. Email details can contain data processed by the flow. |
| Flow Builder debugger | Following a supported flow’s step-by-step path and examining values. | Debug runs can perform DML and Apex actions unless you select rollback mode. Closing or restarting a run does not undo changes already committed. |
| Setup debug log | Inspecting transaction events and interactions involving flows, Apex, SOQL, DML, and limits. | Logs may contain processed data; protect and share them according to your organization’s access and data-handling practices. |
These methods complement one another: use the email to find the likely failure, the debugger to inspect flow-level execution, and a log when you need surrounding transaction context. For current debugger scope and options, see Salesforce Help: Test or Troubleshoot Flows with the Flow Builder Debugger.
Trace the run in Flow Builder safely
For supported flows, select Debug in Flow Builder to view step-by-step run details and set input variables and debug options. Autolaunched and record-triggered flows use Test Mode rather than the Debug option in Salesforce’s current guidance. Debugging as another user requires org setup and is limited to a sandbox in that guidance.

Before running a reproduction, decide whether its actions could affect real records or invoke Apex. Salesforce warns: “If you debug a flow without selecting Run flow in rollback mode, the flow performs its actions, including any Data Manipulation Language (DML) operations and Apex code execution.” Rollback mode is therefore important when the purpose is inspection rather than committing changes. A run that has already committed changes is not undone by closing or restarting it.
- Open the flow version identified in the failure email and choose its debugger or applicable Test Mode.
- Supply inputs that reproduce the failing conditions, including relevant record values and user context.
- Enable Run flow in rollback mode when you need to avoid committing changes during debugging.
- Follow the displayed path to the named element; compare its inputs and resource values with what the element requires.
- Test boundary conditions, error handling, and permissions in a sandbox before activating a correction.
Capture a debug log for transaction-level detail
When the debugger does not explain the failure, capture a Salesforce debug log. Salesforce Help’s article dated June 15, 2026 gives this Setup path: Setup → Debug Logs → create a new debug level. Set Workflow to Finer for flows and Process Builder. When investigating Apex or triggers as well, set Apex Code to Finest. These are the settings described in that support article; Salesforce’s Setup interface can change. See Salesforce Help: Set Debug Log Levels.

Read around the relevant flow event and error instead of scanning a large log without a specific question. Salesforce describes these events as useful landmarks:
FLOW_CREATE_INTERVIEW_BEGINmarks the beginning of a flow interaction.FLOW_INTERVIEW_FINISHED_LIMIT_USAGEcan help inspect governor-limit use at the end of a record-triggered flow transaction.SOQL_EXECUTE_BEGINmarks a SOQL query;SOQL_EXECUTE_ENDincludes the number of rows returned. A zero row count means the query found no records.DML_BEGINmarks an insert or update operation.LIMIT_USAGE_FOR_NSis followed by limit information for a namespace.FATAL_ERRORmay point to a failure, but it is not necessarily the diagnosis. Inspect preceding events to find the earlier cause.
The standard Debug Logs page does not support trace flags for some automated users. If the failing flow runs as one of those users, use Salesforce’s guidance for debugging a system user. Debug logs can include information about processed records, so limit access and sharing appropriately.

Fix the error that the message identifies
REQUIRED_FIELD_MISSING
This error means a flow created or updated a record without a value for a required field. Read the full message for the missing field’s API name, then check whether the flow supplies that field on the relevant create or update path. Include both system-defined and organization-specific required fields in the check. Reproduce the failure in a safe debug run, and search the Apex debug log for REQUIRED_FIELD_MISSING when a log is applicable. Salesforce’s guidance is available at Troubleshoot REQUIRED_FIELD_MISSING Errors in Flows.
Correct the record inputs or upstream logic so the required value is present. If the flow should handle a failure rather than stop without useful context, add a fault path with a message or admin-facing log.

Send Email or Email Alert: “Probably Limit Exceeded or 0 recipients”
Salesforce says this message can result from a blank or invalid email address, an inactive user, or a derived recipient field. For a Send Email action, inspect Recipient ID, Recipient Address Collection, Recipient Address List, CC, and BCC. For an Email Alert, check the selected recipients and the source email field. Confirm the values at runtime, not just the intended configuration. Gate the action on a valid address or correct the source field as appropriate. See Salesforce Help: Send Email Action.
Other elements that can fail
For database-facing or otherwise failure-prone elements, connect a fault path so the flow can route the error to an appropriate response. Salesforce recommends notifying the right people and including useful current flow resource values in the notification; those values can help explain the conditions at the failure point. Guidance: Salesforce Help: Add a Fault Path.
Route failure notifications to the right people
In Process Automation Settings, choose whether flow error emails go to the user who last modified the flow or to the Apex exception email recipients configured in Setup. If the last editor is not the person responsible for responding, configure the appropriate recipients. Because error emails may include data involved in the flow, including user-entered data, consider who should receive them and whether that audience is appropriate. See Salesforce Help: Process Automation Settings.
