Yes, sometimes—as ordinary SD storage. An Eye-Fi card may still let you retrieve files through a card reader, but that does not mean its wireless transfer, app, registration, or cloud services still work. Eye-Fi announced in 2016 that services used by specified older cards would shut down on September 16, 2016. The exact card generation and camera model matter.
What happened to Eye-Fi service?
On June 30, 2016, Eye-Fi announced that it would stop supporting certain legacy product lines, including X2 and earlier-generation products. It said key services those cards relied on would shut down on September 16, 2016. SanDisk likewise says it could not fully support affected SanDisk Eye-Fi cards after that date. These are historical notices; they do not establish a new 2026 service change.
Eye-Fi’s notice told affected customers: “It’s very important that customers cease using these products no later than September 16, 2016 as some key services these products rely on will be shut down at that time.” Read the Eye-Fi announcement and SanDisk support notice for the original scope and wording.
Mobi and Mobi Pro are a separate historical case
The 2016 Eye-Fi notice said Mobi and Mobi Pro products purchased since 2013 were not affected by that announcement. That exception only describes the scope of the 2016 announcement; it is not proof that an app, cloud service, or wireless setup for those cards is available today.

Can you still get photos off an Eye-Fi card?
In at least one documented use case, yes: Doxie says its original Doxie Go scanner can still scan without Eye-Fi wireless transfer, and files on the Eye-Fi card can be retrieved by connecting it to a computer as a regular SD card. A compatible USB SD card reader can provide that wired connection if the computer has no SD slot. This accesses files on the card; it does not restore Eye-Fi wireless service.
Doxie also describes connecting the scanner to a computer by USB to transfer files from its internal memory. Its instructions apply to the original Doxie Go, not every camera, Eye-Fi card, or computer combination. See Doxie’s original Doxie Go guidance.

Will an Eye-Fi card work with your camera?
There is no universal compatibility answer based on the Eye-Fi name alone. Identify the card generation and exact camera model, then check that camera’s manual and any manufacturer service notice naming it. A camera manual for one model is not a compatibility guide for the whole brand.
For example, Nikon’s D800 manual discusses supported Eye-Fi cards and card firmware for that camera specifically. Its guidance should not be generalized to other Nikon bodies. Consult the Nikon D800 manual and documentation for the applicable model.

Check for model-specific service notices
Canon’s U.S. notice concerns a reported issue involving cards with “X2” in the product name and certain listed cameras: opening the SD-card door and promptly removing the card could affect operation. Canon offered inspection and repair at no charge to residents of the United States and Puerto Rico for the models and issue covered by that notice. It also described removing and reinserting the battery as a temporary workaround if an affected camera was not operating normally. The notice does not apply to every Canon camera or every Eye-Fi card; check the named models and conditions in Canon’s service notice.

Do not assume old setup instructions will still work. The legacy announcement documents discontinued support and a 2016 shutdown of key services for affected cards, but it does not establish a working current app, registration flow, or setup path for a particular card, computer, phone, or operating system. Look up the documentation for the exact card and treat instructions that depend on legacy apps or services as archival unless verified for your setup.
