On PS5, use Settings > Family and Parental Controls > Family Management. On Xbox Series X|S, manage the child’s content, communication, and multiplayer settings in Xbox Family Settings. GTA 6’s final age rating has not been confirmed in the official listings reviewed, so check the store and your region’s rating board again when a rating is assigned.
What age rating is GTA 6?
GTA 6 is not yet assigned a confirmed final age rating in the official sources reviewed. The PlayStation listing says its age ratings are unconfirmed, Xbox labels the game “Rating Pending,” and Take-Two said on June 24, 2026, that the game was not yet rated. The ESRB says “Rating Pending” means a final ESRB rating has not yet been assigned. See the PlayStation listing, Xbox listing, Take-Two announcement, and ESRB ratings guide.
Do not use Grand Theft Auto V’s rating as GTA 6’s rating. The PlayStation page references earlier GTA V ratings for context, but those are not ratings for GTA 6. Ratings also vary by country, so check the rating shown in your local store or regional rating-board listing once available. PlayStation’s listing warns that Grand Theft Auto games regularly include profanity, violence, sexual themes, and depictions of illegal acts, and are generally not recommended for children.
How to set GTA 6 age restrictions on PS5
First create a PlayStation family and add your child as a family member; Sony requires this before you can apply parental controls. Then set the child account’s game-and-app age level. Sony’s PS5 parental-controls guide documents this route and the other account controls.

- Create a PlayStation family and add the child as a family member.
- On PS5, open Settings > Family and Parental Controls > Family Management.
- Select the child, open the relevant parental control, and set Age Level for Games and Apps to the restriction you want.
- Review communication and user-generated-content permissions, privacy, playtime, and monthly spending limits as needed.
You can also manage controls through the PlayStation Family app or web account management. Sony says the child should have verified their email and be signed in for controls to work. If you change settings while a game is running, have the child sign out and back in so the change can take effect. Details are in Sony’s PlayStation Family app guide.
How to set age restrictions on Xbox Series X|S
Use the Xbox Family Settings app with the child’s account in your Microsoft family group. Configure the child’s content restriction, then review multiplayer and communication preferences. Xbox does not publish a single GTA 6-specific menu sequence in the information reviewed; set account-level family controls and confirm the game’s final rating in the store or rating-board listing when it is assigned.

The Xbox Family Settings app supports child-account setup, content restrictions, communication and multiplayer controls, screen-time schedules, friend management, spending review, and purchase requests. It manages Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One activity. Applicable content and screen-time limits can also extend to Windows PCs when the child signs in with the family-linked Microsoft account and Xbox profile.
Choose the controls that match your concern
Age limits govern access to games and content, but they are only one part of family settings. If your concern includes online interactions or household spending, review those controls separately rather than assuming a game-age restriction covers them.
