If you can’t log in to the FC 26 Companion App now, first check which app you opened: EA says that since September 17, 2026, its Web and Companion Apps are available only for FC 27. The current FC 27 app cannot be used to manage an FC 26 club. If you’re troubleshooting an earlier FC 26 login, or an error that still appears in the current app, use the checks below to distinguish an account or setup problem from a separate Transfer Market restriction.
First check whether you’re using the FC 26 or FC 27 app
EA says the FC 27 Web App went online September 16, 2026, and the FC 27 Companion App became available September 17. From September 17, the apps are FC 27-only. An old FC 26 guide or an app label that refers to FC 26 may therefore describe a setup path that is no longer current. See EA’s Web and Companion App guide for the transition details.
If the issue is happening now, identify the installed app and the game version you’re trying to manage before changing account settings. The FC 27 app is for FC 27, not a way to regain access to FC 26 app features.

The app login needs to use the same EA Account you use to play the corresponding FC title. If the app opens the wrong club or asks you to complete setup again, check which EA Account is linked to your console or PC profile, then sign in with that account. EA’s guide links to help for finding the account and recovering a lost email address or password.

Do not give your password or Security Question answer to unofficial helpers. If you cannot identify or recover the linked account, use EA’s account support route rather than trying unrelated app or network changes.
Complete Ultimate Team setup in the full game
For the former FC 26 app setup
EA’s FC 26 store listing described this initial setup: log into FC 26 on console or PC, enter Ultimate Team, create a club, set a Security Question and Answer, and then sign in to the Companion App. These are legacy FC 26 instructions; they do not restore FC 26 app access after the transition to FC 27-only apps. The setup steps appear in the FC 26 listing.

If you’re setting up the current FC 27 app
EA says you must log in to Ultimate Team in FC 27 on PC or console at least once by November 7, 2026, 11:59:50 PM UTC to continue using the Web and Companion Apps. If you have not completed that game-side login, do so in FC 27 and then try the app again. This is a time-limited continuity requirement for the FC 27 apps, not a fix for an incorrect password or a blocked account.

In one FC 26 forum case, EA Community Manager EA_Hux advised the player to enter Ultimate Team in the full game rather than Showcase or a trial, remove Showcase and install the full game if applicable, then quit Ultimate Team and wait a few minutes before trying the app. This is case-specific guidance, not a guaranteed fix for every trial, account, or login error. Tell a login error apart from a Transfer Market restriction
“Login unavailable — we’re currently having trouble with login services” is wording reported in a forum login discussion; it is not the same diagnosis as being able to open the app but not use its Transfer Market. Likewise, “why does the FC Companion App say I need to log into Ultimate Team?” points toward a game-side login or setup check, not necessarily a market block.

EA publishes separate Transfer Market eligibility and restriction guidance. Follow the instructions in any block message or account email rather than treating the restriction as an app login failure.

If you have the current app, the correct linked account, and the required Ultimate Team setup, but authentication still fails, contact EA Help for account-specific support. The official guidance does not establish a universal reset procedure for persistent FC 26 service-login errors. Reinstalling the app, clearing its cache, changing networks or a VPN, or waiting a fixed amount of time is not a documented guaranteed solution.
