Who needs iCloud+ to use Apple Invites?
Apple’s iCloud.com Invites guide states: “You must have an iCloud+ subscription to host an event, but anyone can attend an event.” In practical terms, the host needs iCloud+ to create and host the event. Invitees can attend without subscribing, including when they respond as guests.
Which iCloud+ plan includes Apple Invites?
Apple lists Apple Invites as an iCloud+ feature on each of its five storage tiers. The current iCloud+ plan information lists these capacities:

Apple’s listed Invites feature does not vary by tier, and the cited plan information does not state an Invites-specific storage quota. Choose a tier based on your overall iCloud storage needs and other iCloud+ features—not an assumed requirement for a larger plan to host more events or accommodate more guests.

Can you use a family member’s iCloud+ plan?
Possibly. Apple says an iCloud+ plan can be shared with up to five other family members through Family Sharing. If you are included in a family group that has enabled plan sharing, that may give you access to iCloud+ without purchasing a separate plan. What does iCloud+ cost?
Prices depend on your country or region, so check Apple’s local iCloud+ page for the current amount. As one regional example, Apple Canada lists these monthly prices on its iCloud+ page:

These are Canadian prices, not global rates. Apple Canada says the 50 GB tier includes full access to create invitations and manage events. Check Apple’s page for your region before subscribing, since prices and plan details can change.
Does the free 5 GB iCloud allocation qualify?
No. Apple’s terms describe 5 GB of iCloud storage for an account without an upgrade, but that free allocation is not an iCloud+ subscription. It therefore does not meet Apple’s stated requirement for hosting an Invites event.

Where can you use Apple Invites?
Apple lists Invites for iPhone and web browsers. Its current iCloud system requirements specify iOS 26 with iCloud+ for certain features. Check Apple’s requirements page for current software support rather than assuming compatibility from an iPhone model alone.

The Apple pages cited here do not establish a numeric maximum for events, invitations, or guests. They also do not say that moving to a larger iCloud+ storage tier raises such a limit. Do not treat a particular event or guest cap as confirmed without a current Apple source.
