To manage cables on an IKEA YXSTABY setup, plan device and outlet positions first, then use the stand’s built-in cable-management feature and flexible accessory holders. IKEA identifies space beneath the stand for a laptop, keyboard, or other accessories, but does not specify a power-strip location, electrical capacity, or required cable route—so those choices depend on your desk, equipment, and the instructions for any add-ons.
What the YXSTABY can—and cannot—do for cable management
The YXSTABY (article 806.200.01) is a gaming monitor stand, not a desk. IKEA advertises cable management and flexible holders for items such as a headset, controller, and phone. Its product page does not show a detailed routing diagram or identify a hidden channel, power-strip mount, or particular cable path. Use the feature as provided, without assuming a specific route. IKEA also says there is room underneath for a laptop, keyboard, or other accessories. That describes available space, not a dedicated powered-device compartment or a ventilation guarantee. Keep the area and the devices’ own clearances in mind when arranging equipment.

Plan the layout before routing cables
- List the equipment. Note your monitor or monitors, computer or console, and powered accessories. Identify which cables connect each item and where the room outlet is.
- Position the stand and devices. Check that the intended arrangement fits your desk and that cables can reach without pulling taut or obstructing controls and access.
- Route each cable to its destination. Use the stand’s documented cable-management feature where it makes sense, and keep the route accessible enough to adjust or unplug devices.
- Place loose accessories deliberately. Use the flexible holders for suitable small items, and reserve the under-stand area for equipment that fits without crowding its connections or obstructing its use.
- Check the finished setup. Confirm that connections are secure, cables are not under strain, and you can reach the devices and outlet when needed.
Check dimensions, monitor fit, and shelf load
The published measurements differ by regional listing: IKEA US gives 38 5/8 × 10 5/8 × 6 1/4 inches, while IKEA UK gives 98 × 27 × 16 cm. IKEA says the stand fits one larger monitor or two 24-inch monitors; check your monitor bases and cable exits against the actual space in your layout. Decide where power equipment belongs
The product information does not establish a power-strip mounting position or a specific electrical setup for the YXSTABY. Before adding a strip or placing powered equipment under the stand, consider your desk surface, outlet access, cable reach, and the equipment maker’s placement guidance. Do not assume that the stand’s cable-management feature is an electrical enclosure or that the under-stand space is intended for power equipment.
If you choose a separate tray, clips, ties, or another organizer, first measure clearances and check the accessory maker’s mounting instructions, including whether the mounting method suits your surface and intended load. The stand’s top panel is particleboard with melamine foil and plastic edging; its side, support, and holder parts are steel with epoxy/polyester powder coating. The available product information does not confirm compatibility with adhesive-mounted accessories.
