Define what counts as a serviceable lead, set accurate expectations in the ad, ask only questions that affect eligibility or follow-up, respond promptly, and send consistent CRM outcomes back to Meta where the feature is available.
Start by defining a qualified lead
Before changing an ad or form, agree on what your business can actually serve. A useful definition might include the requested service, whether the customer is in your service area, when the work is needed, and any project constraints that determine whether you can take it on.
Do not put every unsuccessful inquiry into a single “bad lead” category. Record the reason an opportunity did not progress so you can tell a targeting mismatch from a contact or follow-up problem.
- Wrong area: The address or postcode is outside your service area.
- Wrong service: The person wants work you do not offer.
- Bad contact data: The phone number or email is invalid.
- No response: You have not reached the person after documented attempts.
- Duplicate: The same inquiry was submitted more than once.
- Genuine but unsuitable: The inquiry is real, but the timing, scope, or another constraint makes it a poor fit.
These distinctions matter: a false phone number calls for a different fix than a valid customer who was contacted too late.

Make the ad set accurate expectations
Use the ad to help the right customers recognize that your offer fits them—and help others self-select out. Name the service and job clearly, specify the service area when useful, and explain exactly what is free. For example, say “request a free quote” if the free offer is an estimate, rather than wording that could imply the work itself is free.
Use images that reflect the service you provide and avoid broad promises that may attract people looking for something else. The practical test is whether someone who submits the form understands what work you handle, where you operate, and what happens next. These are operational recommendations, not a guarantee of more qualified inquiries. MetaAdGuys’ service-business guide also recommends qualifying through clear service, location, and offer details.
Ask form questions only when the answer changes what happens next
Questions can help you decide whether a lead is eligible, how urgently to contact them, or who should handle the inquiry. They are less useful when they add effort without changing the next action.
Rank #2
- Service type: Helps confirm the request is within your capabilities or route it to the right team.
- Postcode or location: Helps check service-area fit.
- Timing: Helps prioritize urgent work against projects planned for later.
- Scope or ownership: May help route a larger or more complex project, if that information affects your process.
There is no universal ideal number of questions established for home-service lead forms. Start with the information your team needs to qualify and respond, then remove questions that do not influence eligibility, priority, or routing. More friction by itself is not a quality strategy.
Respond promptly and document every attempt
A valid inquiry can appear unresponsive if the first contact comes after the person has moved on. Route new submissions to someone who is available, send a confirmation that names your business and explains the next step, and record calls and messages against the lead.
Use a consistent, respectful retry cadence rather than relying on memory or repeatedly contacting someone without a plan. A person who submitted while browsing may later fail to recognize an unfamiliar caller; that does not prove the inquiry was fake. Record whether you called, left a message, or sent a follow-up so “unreachable” has a clear meaning in your reporting. The appropriate contact timing and retry schedule depend on your operation; the available service-business guidance does not establish one universal interval.

Track outcomes in your CRM and return useful signals to Meta
Use consistent stage definitions so the team can distinguish a new submission from a real opportunity. A basic sequence is contacted, qualified, quoted, booked, and won. Keep rejection reasons alongside those stages, and make sure the people handling leads update records consistently.
Meta Blueprint describes using CRM first-party data through Conversions API for CRM so Meta can optimize for lead quality rather than only lead volume. Its public training listing directs advertisers to set up the CRM connection and monitor activity in Events Manager and Ads Manager. Check the current requirements and availability in your own account before planning around a particular setting: platform features and eligibility can change. Meta Blueprint: Improve lead quality with Meta Conversions API for CRM.
Meta announced on November 9, 2023, that campaigns using CRM integration with Conversions API and the conversion-leads performance goal had an average 16% reduction in cost per quality lead and a 21% increase in lead-to-quality-lead conversion rate compared with campaigns using the leads performance goal. Meta said these were A/B-test results from 68 advertisers, with ads delivered globally from August 8 to 14, 2023; incentives were included, and Meta cautioned that results can vary. These are historical, Meta-reported averages—not a forecast for an individual home-services advertiser. Diagnose the cause before changing the campaign
Review rejection reasons by campaign, creative, postcode, and service. Then compare cost per qualified opportunity or booked estimate with cost per submitted form. A low cost per form can hide a high share of out-of-area requests; a good share of qualified inquiries can still fail to become jobs if contact and follow-up are weak.
Change one element at a time where practical, such as the ad’s service-area wording or a question that determines routing. This is practitioner guidance for making results easier to interpret, not a controlled finding that guarantees better performance. Keep the outcome definitions and reporting consistent while you assess whether the change addresses the diagnosed problem.

Instant Forms, website forms, and messaging can differ in submission effort, qualification control, lead retrieval, CRM outcome tracking, and fit with customer preferences. The sources available do not establish a current controlled comparison of these options for home services, so do not assume one surface will always produce better leads.
Best Value
Compare them using your own downstream results: qualified opportunities and booked estimates, the reliability and speed of lead handoff, and how easily your team can record outcomes. Cost per form is useful, but it does not answer whether the route produces work your business can serve.
What to check before relying on a Meta form feature
Meta’s May 4, 2022 Newsroom announcement described multiple-choice answers in Instant Forms as a way to filter leads that might not be a good fit. It presented the feature as forthcoming at the time, so it does not establish the exact current interface or universal availability. Verify the options shown in your Ads Manager account.
