To create a 24/7 YouTube stream from prerecorded music or talk, play local video files through an encoder or playlist tool and send that continuous output to YouTube Live using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. YouTube does not provide a native control that turns your existing uploads into a looping live broadcast; a public YouTube playlist is not a live stream.
What you need before you start
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. These are YouTube’s stated eligibility conditions; check YouTube’s live-streaming guidance for current details.
- An encoder setup that can play your video files in sequence or on repeat and transmit the output continuously. This may be software on a computer or a hardware encoder. YouTube says expensive equipment is not required to get started.
- Video and audio files you own or have permission to stream. Permission to upload or listen to a track does not necessarily grant permission for continuous live streaming; confirm that your license covers this use.
- A stable internet connection with upload capacity above the stream’s total bitrate, plus a plan to notice and recover from interruptions.
A YouTube live event is the viewer-facing broadcast; the stream is the audio-video feed sent to YouTube. YouTube’s encoder workflow handles that feed. The continuous playlist is configured in your encoder or associated playback software, not created by converting already-uploaded videos into a live feed.
Set up the continuous stream
1. Confirm channel eligibility
In YouTube Studio, check that live streaming is available for your channel and that there are no restrictions in the preceding 90 days. YouTube’s eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions during that period. If live streaming is unavailable, resolve the stated account or restriction issue before configuring an encoder.

- Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to enter Live Control Room.
- Create or select the live stream and find its streaming settings. Choose the protocol supported by your encoder; for typical content, YouTube recommends RTMPS.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder’s connection settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast. Do not post it or include it in screenshots.
- Review YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop settings if your encoder supports them. They can simplify starting or stopping the broadcast, but do not make a playlist continuous or recover a failed encoder.
YouTube documents the stream URL and key workflow in its encoder setup instructions. Labels may change, so use the current Live Control Room interface if a setting has moved.

When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0
3. Build the playlist from local files
- In your encoder or playlist playback software, select the local video files you want to broadcast. Arrange them in the intended order.
- Enable repeat or looping playback so the list continues when it reaches the end. The exact control depends on the software you choose; YouTube does not provide a built-in uploaded-video loop for this workflow.
- Check transitions between files. Avoid gaps that leave the channel black or silent, and confirm that the next file starts correctly when the previous one ends.
- Make sure the player can continue unattended and that the computer will not sleep, restart for updates, or stop playback when a user signs out.
4. Match the encoder output to YouTube’s settings
Use a compatible output rather than assuming every source file will stream correctly as-is. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance lists H.264 video, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate (CBR), and frame rates up to 60 fps for RTMP/RTMPS. It recommends a 2-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed 4 seconds. Check the current YouTube guidance and your encoder’s controls when choosing a preset.
Choose resolution, frame rate, and bitrate according to the source material and measured connection capacity. Higher visual quality requires more upload bandwidth; an encoder cannot recover detail that is absent from the original file. YouTube advises selecting quality suited to your connection and testing upload capacity.

5. Test before leaving it unattended
- Start the encoder and watch the Live Control Room preview before relying on the stream.
- Confirm that video and audio are in sync, levels are audible without clipping, and playback moves from one playlist item to the next without an unwanted gap.
- Check the stream health indicator and let the test run long enough to expose connection or playlist problems.
- After confirming the output, begin the broadcast and keep a way to monitor it and restart the encoder or connection if either fails.
Plan for bandwidth and uptime
YouTube says the total stream bitrate must stay below the available upload capacity, recommends leaving 20% headroom, and warns that network disruption can break a stream. For example, apply that headroom to the encoder’s total outgoing bitrate, not just the video setting; audio and other stream overhead also use capacity. Test the upload connection under realistic conditions rather than relying only on a headline internet-plan speed.
A do-it-yourself stream depends on every part of the chain: file playback, encoder, power, local network, internet connection, and YouTube ingest. Decide how you will learn about a failure and who or what can restart the encoder. YouTube recommends testing and continuous monitoring; a 24/7 schedule is not a guarantee that a local setup will remain online without supervision.

Choose a setup that fits your circumstances
| Setup | What it depends on | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Existing computer with software encoder | The computer, playback software, power, and internet connection must stay available. YouTube supports software encoding and says costly equipment is not needed to get started. | Trying the workflow or using a computer already available for continuous operation. |
| Dedicated computer or hardware encoder | The device still needs power, a configured playlist, and a reliable internet connection. No special computer model is required by YouTube. | A setup where separating streaming from everyday computer use is worth the additional equipment or configuration. |
| Cloud service that plays uploaded files | The service handles playback and transmission from its cloud environment; you provide the media and YouTube stream key. | Keeping the stream running without leaving a home computer on. |
For normal YouTube encoder streaming, YouTube recommends RTMPS. HLS is an alternative only when the encoder and workflow call for it; YouTube notes additional format requirements and higher latency for HLS. Follow the protocol and format requirements for the method you actually use rather than switching protocols without a reason.
Rights, reused content, and channel responsibility
Use only music, speech, images, and footage you own or are authorized to broadcast continuously. Check that the relevant license covers live streaming, the intended territories, and the duration of use. An existing upload’s availability, a general music subscription, or permission for ordinary playback does not by itself establish that 24/7 live rebroadcast is permitted.

- 【Plug and Play】No driver or external power supply required, true PnP. Once plugged in, the device is identified automatically as a webcam. Detect input and adjust output automatically. Won't occupy CPU, optional audio capture. No freeze with correct setting.
- 【Compatible with Multiple Systems】suitable for Windows and Mac OS. High speed USB 3.0 technology and superior low latency technology makes it easier for you to transmit live streaming to Twitch, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, OBS, Potplayer and VLC.
- 【HDMI LOOP-OUT】Based on the high-speed USB 3.0 technology, it can capture one single channel HD HDMI video signal. There is no delay when you are playing game live.
- 【Support Mic-in for Commentary】Rybozen capture card has microphone input and you can use it to add external commentary when playing a game. Please note: it only accepts 3.5mm TRS standard microphone headset.
Rights clearance and YouTube monetization eligibility are separate questions. Repeating prerecorded material does not guarantee monetization, and permission to use content does not guarantee that a channel meets YouTube’s policies for monetization or other features. Review the current YouTube rules that apply to your channel and content before scheduling a continuous broadcast.

Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive a signal | Incorrect stream URL or key, an inactive encoder, or a connection problem. | Verify the URL and key in the encoder, confirm the encoder is sending, and check the Live Control Room preview. If you suspect the key was exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder. |
| Stream health reports instability or the broadcast disconnects | Upload capacity is insufficient or fluctuating, or the network is interrupted. | Measure upload capacity, lower the outgoing bitrate if needed, preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, and check the local network. Restart the encoder or connection if transmission stops. |
| Black or silent gaps appear between videos | Playlist playback is not repeating, transitions contain gaps, or a file fails to load. | Check the playlist order and repeat setting, test each file, and watch transitions in a full playback test. |
| Video or audio is rejected or plays incorrectly | The encoder output may not match supported codec, bitrate, keyframe, or audio settings. | Compare the encoder output with YouTube’s current settings guidance: H.264 video, AAC or MP3 audio, CBR, a recommended 2-second keyframe interval (no more than 4 seconds), and a suitable frame rate and bitrate. |
| The stream stops after a computer restart or sleep | The local playback or encoder process is no longer running. | Prevent sleep during streaming, check restart and sign-in behavior, and create a way to monitor and relaunch the encoder. A local encoder cannot continue if its host is off. |
