First identify which Chrono Trigger project you mean
Three different things can be described as a Chrono Trigger “HD-2D project.” A report dated October 3, 2026 distinguishes them: Dott’s HD-2D visual concept, tyanuziello’s End of Time scene recreation, and Square Enix’s official commercial game on Steam. They are not interchangeable, and compatibility information for one does not establish compatibility for another. The report distinguishing the projects.

Compatibility of the fan-made End of Time scene
The available project evidence supports only that the recreation uses Godot, covers the End of Time scene, and was listed for Windows. That is not enough to promise that it works on a particular Windows 10 or Windows 11 build, or to specify a minimum processor, graphics card, memory, controller, or save behavior. The creator’s current project page is the right place to check for a live download, version notes, and any support details; the referenced page’s current contents have not been verified here.
Do not apply the official Steam game’s specifications or Square Enix’s troubleshooting instructions to this small fan scene. No confirmed launch, controller, save, or performance fixes for the scene are established by the available project information.

Official Steam game: requirements and platform caveat
Square Enix’s Steam product page lists these minimum requirements for its official game:

There is an important distinction between the game listing and the launcher: Steam says its client supports Windows 10 and later starting January 1, 2024. So the game’s older Windows 7/8/8.1 minimum does not mean the current Steam client will run on those systems. The Steam page also lists resolutions from 800×600 through 1920×1080 in several common modes.

The Steam description says the official release supports gamepad or keyboard controls and autosaves while traversing the map. Those details describe Square Enix’s game, not the fan-made Godot scene.
Where to troubleshoot the official PC release
Square Enix’s North American CHRONO TRIGGER support index includes the Steam version and lists two relevant FAQ topics: “My PC version has crashed or is missing key files” and “I am unable to save game files.” Open the matching official support entry for the game-specific procedure. The index confirms those help topics exist; their titles alone do not establish particular repair steps.

How to choose the right compatibility advice
- If you saw an HD-2D video, treat it as a visual concept unless its creator publishes a playable build.
- If you downloaded the End of Time recreation, use tyanuziello’s current project page for build-specific requirements and support.
- If you installed the commercial PC game, use the Steam requirements and Square Enix support pages above.
For a playable Chrono Trigger PC release, the official Steam edition is the option documented by the storefront. It is a commercial game, not a way to run or troubleshoot the fan recreation.
