An Intel N100 mini PC is best understood as a compact, low-power computer for everyday tasks—not a 6-watt computer at the wall, and not a substitute for a high-performance desktop. Intel specifies the N100 as a four-core, four-thread processor with a maximum turbo frequency of 3.40 GHz, 6 MB cache, and 6 W TDP. Actual performance and power use depend on the complete mini PC, its configuration, and the workload.
What the Intel N100 is—and what its specifications mean
The N100 is an entry-level processor in Intel’s Alder Lake-N family. Intel lists four cores, four threads, a maximum turbo frequency of 3.40 GHz, 6 MB of cache, and a 6 W thermal design power (TDP). These are processor specifications, not a full description of a mini PC’s speed, cooling, or electricity use. Intel’s N100 specifications describe the chip; the computer maker determines the rest of the system.
A mini PC’s motherboard, memory, storage, power conversion, cooling, and connected devices all affect what it can do and how much power it draws. Two computers built around the same N100 can therefore differ in memory capacity, ports, noise, and measured performance.
How fast is an N100 mini PC?
Available benchmark results show useful general performance in one reviewed N100 system, but they should not be treated as guaranteed scores for every model. In Notebookcheck’s 2023 review of the Beelink Mini S12 Pro, it recorded 3,164 points in PCMark 10 overall and 839 points in CrossMark overall. The review’s listed N100 averages were 2,340 PCMark 10 points across eight results and 779 CrossMark points across seven results. The scores are specific to the tested computer, benchmark, and configuration. Notebookcheck’s Beelink Mini S12 Pro review includes the test context and benchmark tables.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Those results support a restrained expectation: an N100 system can be a sensible choice for basic desktop productivity, but a benchmark score cannot establish how quickly it will run a particular application. Workload fit also depends on memory, storage, cooling, and software.
Workloads that are likely to suit it
- Web and document work: A reasonable use for a modest general-purpose desktop, provided the chosen system has enough memory and storage for your everyday workload.
- Basic media playback: A plausible light-duty use, but check the exact system’s supported outputs and capabilities if you have specific display or playback requirements.
- Light utility or home-server roles: The low-power processor class may suit simple, low-demand tasks. Check the exact system and software requirements; the available examples do not validate every server application or workload.
Workloads that need more careful checking
Large multitasking loads, demanding games, graphics-heavy creation, and sustained compute can exceed what you should assume from the N100’s entry-level specifications. Look for tests of the exact mini PC and the applications you plan to use, or compare it with systems that have stronger processors and graphics. The cited review results are not matched comparisons against current alternatives.

How much power does an N100 mini PC draw?
Intel’s 6 W TDP is a processor specification; it is not the mini PC’s wall draw at idle or under load. The difference matters because a wall measurement includes the rest of the system and depends on test conditions.
| Tested system | Reported measurement | Context |
|---|---|---|
| Beelink Mini S12 Pro | 9.02 W average idle | Notebookcheck’s 2023 review; an external monitor was connected. |
| MINIX Z100-0dB | 8.9–9.2 W idle | CNX Software’s review, published 2024-02-25; a different system and test. |
These are separate measurements of particular computers, not a category average or a directly comparable test. CNX Software’s MINIX Z100-0dB review covers that specific fanless system’s performance, storage, networking, noise, and power. To estimate electricity cost for your own setup, you also need its measured consumption, the hours it runs, and your local electricity rate.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
- Memory: Check installed capacity, upgradeability, and the system’s stated maximum. For example, GIGABYTE lists one DDR4 SO-DIMM slot and support for up to 32 GB on the GB-BNIP-N100 (Rev. 1.0) BRIX. That limit is specific to this model.
- Storage: Confirm the drive interface and slot, and whether storage is included in the configuration for sale. GIGABYTE specifies M.2 2280 storage slots for its BRIX; Intel’s Alder Lake-N system specification sheet describes a separate system configuration, not a universal N100 layout.
- Networking and display outputs: Check port type, count, and supported display connections on the exact unit. GIGABYTE’s BRIX listing, for example, includes 2.5GbE; that does not mean all N100 mini PCs have it.
- Cooling and noise: Identify whether the model uses a fan or a fanless chassis. The MINIX Z100-0dB is a specific fanless N100 system. Fanless designs avoid a moving fan, but rely more on the chassis to dissipate heat; noise and sustained performance should be judged from tests of the exact model.
- Power figures: Prefer wall-meter measurements for the system you are considering, with the test conditions stated. Do not use the processor’s TDP as a substitute for whole-device consumption.
- Included configuration and operating system: Confirm what is actually included in the current listing. Memory, storage, and software configurations can differ between offers and change over time.
