How fit and phone compatibility affect the choice
Fit changes both comfort and how much outside sound reaches you. Silicone-tipped in-ear earbuds form a seal that can help with isolation, while open-fit designs may feel less intrusive but do not provide the same sealed fit. How to compare battery claims fairly
Battery numbers are useful only when their conditions are clear. Earbud-only playback and total playback including a charging case are different measures, and ANC use can affect runtime. For example, What Hi-Fi? lists the Sony WF-1000XM6 at eight hours with Bluetooth and ANC, and 24 hours with the case; SoundGuys reports over nine hours per charge and more than 30 hours with the case for Sony WF-C710N. These are figures reported by different publications for different products, so they are not a controlled head-to-head comparison. Check whether a listing specifies ANC use and whether the total includes the case.
