Save a place to a list to find it again; share that list if you want others to view or help edit it.
Explore nearby places and recommendations
Open Google Maps and select Explore to browse ideas near you. Google describes recommendations such as popular restaurants, local favorites, top sights, activities, parks, museums, libraries, and theaters. Some suggestions adapt to your location and the time of day. Trending spots and lists supplied by third-party partners appear only in select cities, so their availability is not universal. Google Maps Help: Explore nearby places.
Explore is a discovery feed, not a personal itinerary: its recommendations can change, whereas a list you curate keeps the places you chose together.
Save a place and find it again
Save a place to a list
- Search for a business or destination in Google Maps and open its place card.
- Select Save.
- Choose an existing list or create a new one.
On a computer, sign in to your Google Account first. Google says saved places are private unless you create and share a list. Its computer instructions state that a saved list can contain up to 3,000 entries; the help page does not give a publication year for this limit. Google Maps Help: Save favorite places.

Saving a place is not the same as downloading an offline map or adding a missing place to Google Maps. Saving keeps a place in your personal collection; offline maps are for using map data without a connection, and adding a place contributes information to the map.
Look for your saved places
In the Android app, open You to see personal content, including lists and recent saves. You can search or filter your places. Google also describes Nearby saved and Recently saved surfaces, which help bring saved places back into view. Google Maps Help: Find your places and lists.

Organize places into lists
Lists are useful for grouping destinations—for example, restaurants to try, possible stops on a trip, or favorite places. On a computer, open Saved, create and name a list, then add destinations using each place card’s Save action. Google’s computer instructions also let you choose whether a list is shown on the main map. On Android and iOS, labels and paths can differ; look for the list’s sharing or options controls. Google Maps Help: Save favorite places.
A single saved place is a quick bookmark; a list gives related places a shared name and structure. Google’s computer help says starred places cannot be shared, so use a list when you want to share a collection. Google Maps Help: Save favorite places.

Share a list or invite collaborators
Google Maps supports sharing a list by link, with options for viewing and, where offered, inviting people to edit. On Android and iOS, Google’s help describes an Invite collaborators action. On a computer, open the list in Saved and use its share controls to choose the available sharing option. The precise labels may vary by platform and interface. Google Maps Help: Save favorite places; Google Maps Help: Share a list of places.
Sharing is not anonymous: Google’s Android instructions say people viewing a shared list may see the names and profile pictures of people who joined it, as well as who added or edited places and notes. Consider that visibility before inviting collaborators. Google Maps Help: Share a list of places.
