The publisher says Cross Progression and save compatibility continue to work as before for the planned Remastered upgrade, but its FAQ does not provide a release date or a separate Remastered transfer procedure.
Transfer a Witcher 3 save with Cross Progression
Cross Progression is the publisher’s account-linked cloud method for continuing a save on another platform. Menu placement varies: on Switch, the instructions begin in My Rewards; on other platforms, the Cross Progression option may be reached from Load Game. Update the game first and follow the prompt shown on your own version.
- Update the game on the source platform. CD PROJEKT RED recommends the latest patch. Its specific PS4-to-PS5 instructions call for PS4 patch 4.04.
- Connect the source copy to your CD PROJEKT RED account. On Switch, open My Rewards and follow the account-linking prompts. On other platforms, use the account or Cross Progression prompt shown in the game.
- Open Load Game and choose Cross Progression. Use the button or key indicated in the corner of the menu. Cross Progression is enabled by default after account connection, but you can check or change it under Options → Gameplay → Cross Progression.
- Create a new save. The game uploads it automatically; confirm that a cloud icon appears next to its name. This is the save to use on the other platform.
- Launch the game on the destination platform and link the same account. Open My Rewards if the game prompts you there. Then go to Load Game and select the uploaded save.
These are cloud saves associated with your account, not a raw USB file copy between arbitrary platforms. CD PROJEKT RED describes the feature as automatically uploading the latest saves so you can continue on other platforms: How to use cross progression.

Check content, mods, and account before troubleshooting
Make sure the same account is linked
The source and destination copies must be connected to the same CD PROJEKT RED account for the documented Cross Progression process. If the save does not appear, verify the account on both platforms before creating another save.
Match the game content
The destination installation needs the content used by the save. A base-game save without expansions can load in Complete Edition, but a Complete Edition save may not load in a base game that lacks the expansions or DLC it uses. CD PROJEKT RED’s support page explains the content requirement for Cross Progression saves.

Check mods on both platforms
For a modded save, the publisher says both platforms need the same set of mods enabled. A missing or incompatible mod can keep the save from loading. This matters especially when moving from PC to console, because mods unsupported on consoles are ignored there; verify that the save can run without them before relying on the transfer.
Confirm the game version and menu prompt
Check the version shown on the main menu and install the latest available update. Menu labels and the location of account-linking prompts can differ by platform and patch, so use the Cross Progression or My Rewards option actually displayed by your copy rather than expecting an identical sequence everywhere.

What the Remastered upgrade changes—and what it does not establish
CD PROJEKT RED’s Remastered FAQ says existing saves remain compatible and Cross Progression continues to function as before. It lists PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 as Remastered-upgrade platforms. The FAQ says existing Nintendo Switch owners will be able to claim the Switch 2 Remastered version free once it is released; it does not provide a release date. Treat this as forward-looking availability, not confirmation that a specific platform’s upgrade is already available. The FAQ also says the current storefront base game has been replaced by Complete Edition, with expansion content included in the current base-game update.
