Supabase announced on October 2, 2026, that it is acquiring Turso. The companies describe a possible progression: Turso’s SQLite database for smaller, on-demand workloads, with a route to standard Postgres through Supabase as an application grows. That is a strategic direction, not a published integration roadmap or evidence that a unified migration path is already available.
What Supabase and Turso have announced
Supabase says Turso is joining it to help build database infrastructure for software and AI agents that create many smaller databases. The announcement presents SQLite and Postgres as serving different stages or needs: SQLite for smaller, on-demand workloads and Postgres as applications scale. Supabase says it will continue building around Postgres while Turso continues its SQLite work. Supabase’s announcement and Turso’s announcement are both dated October 2, 2026.
Supabase also reports that more than one million databases are launched per week. That is the company’s figure; its announcement does not provide the measurement method or independent corroboration. Supabase’s statement
What the proposed database progression could look like
The strategic idea is to give developers a choice of database shape as an application evolves, rather than position SQLite and Postgres as interchangeable products. A small, on-demand workload may fit Turso’s SQLite approach; a larger application may need standard Postgres through Supabase. Turso also names Multigres as an option for further scale. The announcements do not specify technical migration steps, compatibility guarantees, or a delivery schedule for this progression. Supabase’s announcement and Turso’s announcement

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Workload and growth: Consider whether the application creates many small databases or needs a database for a larger, growing workload.
- Database compatibility: Choose based on whether the application needs SQLite or Postgres compatibility; the announcements do not claim that either can transparently replace the other.
- Deployment: Turso describes its cloud service as using a diskless, WAL-on-S3 architecture and says customers can also use its offering in their own clouds through BYOC. These are Turso’s descriptions of its service. Turso’s deployment information
- Surrounding services: The value of Supabase’s services and integrations may matter alongside the database itself.
What Turso says will continue for current users
Turso says its platform will keep running, and that users’ databases, APIs, and workflows will continue as they do today. It also says Turso Database will remain open source and actively developed. These are commitments stated by Turso, not independently audited guarantees of service continuity. Turso’s announcement
What is not yet established
The company announcements do not state the acquisition price, closing conditions, or a detailed integration schedule. They also do not identify specific integration features that have shipped. The described SQLite-to-Postgres path should therefore be understood as a possible direction, not a migration capability developers can assume is currently available. Announcement details

The announcements also offer no comparative performance or price data. They do not establish that Turso is faster or cheaper than Supabase Postgres, or vice versa. Developers evaluating either service should compare current product details against their own workload and deployment requirements rather than infer a winner from the acquisition.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What this means if you are choosing a database now
If your application already depends on Turso, Turso’s stated continuity plans are relevant, but they do not remove the need to monitor service updates and evaluate your own operational requirements. If you are starting a project, choose based on the database compatibility and workload you need today; treat a future path into Supabase Postgres or Multigres as an announced possibility until the companies publish concrete migration details.
