Use Cypress to test mobile web layouts by setting the browser viewport to deliberate phone and tablet dimensions, then asserting the responsive behavior users should see and be able to use. This checks a website or web app in a resized browser; it does not reproduce a complete iOS or Android device or test a native mobile app.
What Cypress mobile testing does—and does not—cover
Cypress can test how a website or web application behaves at mobile-sized viewport dimensions. Its cy.viewport() command changes the application-under-test viewport, allowing tests to check responsive navigation, content layout, forms, and other web interactions. Cypress documentation says it will not run on native mobile apps; it can mimic some mobile-like behaviors, such as swiping, with custom commands. See the Cypress FAQ.
A resized viewport is not full device emulation: Cypress notes that viewport changes do not simulate devicePixelRatio. Treat responsive browser testing as one layer of coverage, not proof that the app behaves identically on physical iOS or Android hardware.
Choose representative viewport sizes
Test the breakpoints and user-facing layout states that matter to your application rather than every possible resolution. Include sizes just below or above important CSS breakpoints when the transition itself is a risk, and test portrait or landscape where orientation changes the experience.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android.You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
| Example size | Useful purpose |
|---|---|
| 320 × 568 | Small phone layout and narrow-content stress check |
| 375 × 812 | Representative phone-sized viewport |
| 768 × 1024 | Tablet-sized layout |
These are illustrative dimensions, not universal device specifications. Replace them with sizes that exercise your app’s actual breakpoints and critical layouts. Cypress also supports named viewport presets and orientation changes; see the viewport API documentation.
Set the viewport in Cypress
Set a viewport inside a test
Call cy.viewport(width, height) before visiting the page or interacting with it. Cypress documents a default application viewport of 1000 × 660 pixels and restores that default between tests. Explicit sizes keep a mobile test from silently running at the desktop default.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
cy.viewport(375, 812)
cy.visit('/')
You can set orientation with a documented preset, for example cy.viewport('iphone-6', 'landscape'). Check the current Cypress viewport documentation for supported preset names and use them where a named preset makes the test easier to understand.
Set defaults or test-specific configuration
Set project-wide defaults with viewportWidth and viewportHeight in Cypress configuration. For a suite- or test-specific default, use Cypress test configuration. Use cy.viewport() to change the active test viewport in a test. Since Cypress 16.0.0, changing viewportWidth or viewportHeight with Cypress.config() during test execution throws an error; older examples that do this should be updated. See Cypress configuration and Cypress.config().

Write responsive behavior assertions
Assert what changes for the user at each size, not merely that the page loads. The selectors below are examples; replace them with stable hooks from your application. The loop keeps each viewport as a separate test, making failures attributable to a specific layout size.
const sizes = [
{ name: 'small phone', width: 320, height: 568 },
{ name: 'phone', width: 375, height: 812 },
{ name: 'tablet', width: 768, height: 1024 },
]
describe('responsive navigation', () => {
for (const size of sizes) {
it(`works at ${size.name}`, () => {
cy.viewport(size.width, size.height)
cy.visit('/')
cy.get('[data-testid="desktop-nav"]').should('not.be.visible')
cy.get('[data-testid="mobile-menu-button"]')
.should('be.visible')
.click()
cy.get('[data-testid="mobile-nav"]').should('be.visible')
})
}
})
This is an illustrative pattern, not a claim that the code was executed. Cypress also documents separating desktop and mobile tests and changing the viewport to test responsive navigation.

Check more than navigation
- Content and layout: confirm key content remains visible, wraps sensibly, and does not create unintended horizontal overflow.
- Forms and primary actions: verify controls are visible, usable, and still submit or navigate correctly at the chosen size.
- Menus and dialogs: check that they open, expose their contents, and can be dismissed through the interaction your web app provides.
- Touch-like interactions: test the behavior that matters to your app. Cypress can mimic certain mobile-style actions such as swiping with custom commands, but that is not equivalent to validating a gesture on a physical device.
Visit or mount the interface
For end-to-end coverage, set the viewport and visit the application route, as in the example. The page must be reachable by the test runner; see Cypress’s cy.visit() documentation for navigation behavior and requirements. For isolated component layout checks, Cypress component testing mounts components in a real browser, complementing end-to-end tests of the complete app. See the component testing guide.
Visual checks and screenshot consistency
Functional assertions can establish that a mobile menu opens, but they may not catch a clipped label, awkward spacing, or a rendering change. Screenshot comparison can complement those assertions. Keep the viewport dimensions and orientation fixed, and hold the rendering environment consistent: browser version, operating system, display scaling, and fonts can all affect screenshots. Cypress discusses these comparison conditions in its visual testing guide.

Apply even pressure for a few seconds to allow the suction cup to adhere properly. To maintain the grip and prevent accidental falls, it's a good practice to periodically reapply pressure to the suction cup.
For reliable visual comparisons, treat the rendering environment as part of the test setup and avoid comparing captures made under different conditions as if they were equivalent.

- The page still looks desktop-sized: set
cy.viewport()explicitly before visiting or asserting. Cypress’s documented default is 1000 × 660 pixels. - A test fails after changing configuration at runtime: on Cypress 16.0.0 and later, do not change
viewportWidthorviewportHeightthroughCypress.config()during execution. Usecy.viewport()or test configuration instead. - The menu assertion passes at one size but fails at another: verify that each test exercises the intended breakpoint, then assert the expected desktop or mobile navigation state at that size. Use selectors tied to the app rather than brittle layout-dependent selectors.
- Screenshots differ even though the layout code did not: compare captures made with the same viewport, orientation, browser, operating system, display scaling, and font environment.
- You need to test an installed native app: Cypress is for websites and web apps, not native mobile apps. A responsive viewport test cannot establish native-app behavior.

If you need a screenshot of a web page rather than an interactive Cypress test, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF; see the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server offers take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents using Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up free for 1,000 screenshots a month, no card required.
