To capture a fullPage.js site, use a browser’s full-page screenshot feature or a scrolling-and-stitching extension, then inspect the result section by section. fullPage.js is a JavaScript library for fullscreen scrolling websites—not a screenshot feature—and its section snapping, horizontal slides, and nested scroll areas can make a capture differ from an ordinary long webpage.
Why fullPage.js needs a different capture check
fullPage.js creates fullscreen scrolling sites with sections and optional horizontal sliders. Its documentation displayed version 4.0.41 when checked. A page may fit a section to the viewport and move between sections automatically; it may also put oversized content in an inner scroll area. A single tall image does not necessarily reveal every slide or every scrollable part.
The library documents autoScrolling and fitToSection for scrolling and viewport fitting. It also documents scrollOverflow for content taller than a section or slide, and normalScrollElements for nested elements such as modals or overflowing text. These features affect what you need to review, even when you capture with a browser tool rather than changing the site.

Choose a capture method
| Method | Useful when | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Browser-native full-page capture | You want a direct screenshot without installing an extension. Mozilla documents a Firefox full-page screenshot feature that saves a PNG. | Whether the page’s sections, slides, and nested scrolling content appear in the saved image. |
| Scrolling screenshot extension | You need an extension that scrolls through successive viewports and stitches them into a long image. A current Chrome listing describes PNG/JPEG and PDF export. | Confirm current browser and page support in the extension listing; stitching and very tall output can have limits. |
| Separate captures | A long image is truncated, exceeds the tool’s size limits, or hides details at a useful scale. | Capture sections or slides separately and label them so their order is clear. |
Browser restrictions can also prevent capturing certain pages. Limits described by a particular extension apply to that product and browser configuration, not necessarily to other tools.

Capture the page and verify the result
- Open the site and let it render. Wait for the page to finish loading. If images or other media load lazily, make sure they have appeared before starting the capture.
- Use the browser’s full-page screenshot feature or a scrolling extension. In Firefox, Mozilla documents a full-page screenshot tool that saves a PNG. For an extension, check its current listing for browser compatibility and available export formats.
- Allow a scrolling capture to finish. A scrolling extension may capture successive screens and stitch them together. Avoid interacting with the page while it scrolls unless the tool or site requires it.
- Review every vertical section and horizontal slide. Do not assume the first viewport represents the entire site. Check any inner scroll areas separately, including long text, modals, or other nested content.
- Check fixed elements and media. Look for headers, sticky elements, overlays, or lazy-loaded assets that are missing, duplicated, or shown in an unexpected state.
- Split the capture if needed. If the output is cut off or too large, use the capture tool’s supported split or export options, or capture sections separately. FullPage Capture’s help page describes dividing very large images into parts when its stated Chrome canvas limits are exceeded; those thresholds are specific to that tool and may change.
When you maintain the fullPage.js site
If you control the site, the fullPage.js documentation’s section and slide state information and callbacks can help you prepare a deliberate capture sequence. For example, you can navigate through the sections and slides as part of a controlled workflow. Ordinary visitors should not edit a site’s code to take a screenshot.
Keep the two overflow cases distinct: scrollOverflow addresses content taller than a section or slide, while normalScrollElements identifies nested elements that should scroll without triggering movement between fullPage.js sections. A full-page capture still needs a separate check of those inner areas.

Common problems and fixes
- A section or slide is missing: Navigate through the fullPage.js sections and horizontal slides, then capture or verify each state. The initial viewport is not a reliable inventory of the page.
- Content inside a section is cut off: Check whether the section has its own overflow scrolling. Scroll that inner area and capture it separately if the chosen tool does not include it.
- A header or overlay appears more than once: Inspect the stitched image for fixed or sticky elements repeated at viewport boundaries. If the tool supports it, use a mode suited to the page or capture sections individually.
- Images are blank or absent: Wait for lazy-loaded media to appear before capture; if necessary, visit the relevant section or slide first.
- The screenshot ends early or cannot be exported: The image may exceed a browser or tool-specific size ceiling. Try supported split output or separate section captures instead of assuming every tool can make one unlimited image.
- The browser refuses to capture the page: Some browser pages or restricted contexts cannot be captured. Try a normal webpage context or another supported capture method.
