Set width and height with dimension
Screenshot Machine’s API expects dimension in the form WIDTHxHEIGHT. The documented examples include 320x240, 800x600, 1024x768, and 1920x1080. Use the dimensions you need, subject to the documented limits: width from 100 through 1920 pixels and height from 100 through 9999 pixels. The documented default is 120x90. See the official API reference for parameter details.
For a full-length page capture, use full as the height, such as 1024xfull. That requests a 1024-pixel-wide screenshot whose height spans the page. Long pages may need a greater delay so images or animations can load before capture.
Make the request from a terminal
The API request needs your Screenshot Machine key, the target page URL, and the requested dimension. This Bash/cURL pattern passes them as request parameters; replace the example values with your own. Keep the API key private.

URL-encode target URLs when they contain characters that need encoding; --data-urlencode handles that for the URL parameter in this example. Check the current API reference for the precise endpoint and response options for your account.
Choose device mode separately
device and dimension are separate options: the device mode does not replace the explicit width-and-height request. The documentation describes desktop, phone, and tablet, with examples pairing desktop with 1024x768, phone with 480x800, and tablet with 800x1280. Choose both values when you need to specify a mode and a particular viewport size.

Adjust load timing and zoom only when needed
delay controls how long the capture engine waits before taking the screenshot; it does not set the viewport. The documented default is 200 milliseconds, and the reference lists supported values from 0 through 10000 milliseconds in specified increments. For pages with images or animations—especially long pages—the documentation suggests considering a longer delay, such as 2000 milliseconds or more.
zoom is also separate from dimensions. Its documented default is 100%, with values from 10 to 400. The reference notes that zoom is ignored for screenshots smaller than a typical device dimension. Use dimension to request width and height; use delay or zoom only to address loading or page-scale needs.

Common problems and fixes
- A CLI viewport option is rejected: the official materials reviewed do not establish a standalone Screenshot Machine CLI viewport flag. Send an API request with the
dimensionparameter instead. - The requested size is rejected or differs from expectations: check the documented width and height bounds and ensure the value is formatted as
WIDTHxHEIGHT. Usefullonly as the height for a full-page capture. - The screenshot is cut off vertically: use a larger numeric height, or request full-page height with a value such as
1024xfull. - Images or animations are missing in a long capture: increase
delaywithin the documented supported values; timing is distinct from viewport size. - The request fails on a page URL with special characters: percent-encode the URL or pass it through a client option that encodes request parameters. Keep the API key out of publicly available client code; Screenshot Machine’s Python example advises using a secret phrase for API calls made from public websites.
