Use Firefox’s page screenshot tools rather than capturing the whole desktop or browser window. The saved image shows the webpage without browser controls, and you can choose a full page, the visible viewport, or a single element depending on what will work best on your slide.
Choose what part of the page to capture
- Full page: Use this for an overview of a long page. It may become too tall to read comfortably when reduced to fit a slide.
- Viewport: Use this for a screen-sized view of the page.
- Element: Use this to focus on one component, such as a chart, menu, or product card, without surrounding page content.
Firefox’s Developer Tools support full-page and single-element screenshots, as its screenshot documentation explains.
Capture a full page with Firefox Developer Tools
- Open the webpage in Firefox.
- Open Developer Tools. Use Ctrl+Shift+I or F12 on Windows or Linux, or Cmd+Option+I on macOS. Mozilla lists these shortcuts in its Firefox DevTools documentation.
- Open Developer Tools settings and find Available Toolbox Buttons.
- Enable Take a screenshot of the entire page.
- Select the screenshot button in the Developer Tools toolbar. Firefox saves the image in the browser’s Downloads directory.
The image contains page content rather than the browser’s toolbar and window frame. If the button or setting is not where expected, use the Console method below; interface details can vary by Firefox version and platform.
Capture only the visible viewport or one element
Visible viewport
For a screenshot of just the part currently shown in the page area, open Responsive Design Mode and use its screenshot button. This is a better fit than a full-page image when your slide needs a screen-sized view.

Single element
Open the Inspector, select the page element, then right-click its node and choose Screenshot Node. The resulting image isolates that element from the browser interface. Mozilla documents these capture choices in its Firefox DevTools tips.
Use the Console for a full-page capture
Firefox’s DevTools Console accepts the screenshot command. To capture the entire page and save it as a PNG, enter:

The --fullpage option captures beyond the part visible in the browser window. You can replace presentation.png with the filename you want.
Make the screenshot readable on a slide
- Choose the smallest capture scope that still gives your audience the context it needs.
- Check the image at the size it will appear in the presentation. If text is too small, capture a viewport or a specific element instead of shrinking a full-page image.
- Inspect the saved image for private information or page content that does not belong in the deck.
Troubleshooting
The screenshot button is missing
Open Developer Tools settings and enable Take a screenshot of the entire page under Available Toolbox Buttons. If the setting differs in your Firefox version, use screenshot presentation.png --fullpage in the Console.

The image includes only the visible part of the page
Use the screenshot button configured for an entire-page capture or add --fullpage to the Console command. A viewport screenshot intentionally captures only the visible area.
The whole page is too small to read in the deck
Capture the viewport or a single element, or split the page across multiple slides. A long full-page image has to be scaled down to fit, which can make its text difficult to read.
