What Html2Pdf.app captures—and what it does not
Html2Pdf.app takes a public webpage URL or raw HTML and renders it as a PDF using headless Chromium. Its documentation says: “Conversions run in headless Chromium, providing support for modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.” That describes PDF generation, not a direct image screenshot mode. So the practical workflow depends on your required file: use the PDF as the capture if that works, or convert the resulting PDF to PNG or JPEG separately. The extra conversion is not an Html2Pdf.app feature. When converting, check that the entire page remains legible at the output resolution you need.
Use the online converter for a one-off capture
- Open the online converter linked from the Html2Pdf.app homepage.
- Enter the URL of a webpage that the service can reach publicly.
- Generate and download the PDF.
- If you need an image instead, use a separate PDF-to-image converter and inspect the result for clipping or unreadably small text.
This is the simpler route for an occasional manual conversion. It avoids writing integration code, but it does not provide the server-side automation of the API.

Generate a webpage PDF with the API
For an automated capture, send an authenticated JSON POST request to https://api.html2pdf.app/v1/generate. Put your API key in the X-API-Key header and the webpage URL in the html field. Keep the key in a trusted server-side script or job—not browser JavaScript or public client code. The successful synchronous response is binary PDF data, so save it as a .pdf file rather than trying to parse it as text. API documentation · cURL examples

--output capture.pdfCheck the HTTP status before treating the output as a finished capture. For production use, handle non-success responses separately rather than saving an error response with a .pdf extension.
Control the capture dimensions
The API documents width and height in pixels for a custom capture canvas; provide them together. It also documents page formats A0–A6, Letter, Legal, Tabloid, and Ledger. These settings affect PDF rendering, but do not guarantee that an arbitrarily long webpage will fit on one PDF page. Check the generated file and adjust settings for the page you are capturing.

Wait for scripts and resources
For JavaScript-driven pages or asynchronous content, the API offers waitFor, documented from 0 to 10 seconds. A longer wait may give a page more time to finish rendering, but output can still vary with JavaScript timing, the selected CSS media mode, and the availability of fonts and external resources. Test representative pages before relying on the result in a repeatable workflow.
Use asynchronous callbacks for jobs that should not wait
The documentation also describes an asynchronous callback mode. For those jobs, Html2Pdf.app posts a base64-encoded PDF to your callback endpoint. Use HTTPS and make processing idempotent so a repeated callback does not create duplicate work or records. Consult the API documentation for the documented request parameters and callback details.

Troubleshooting missing or incomplete content
The request returns an error or no usable PDF
- Confirm the request uses
POSTto the documented endpoint, sends JSON, and includes the API key in theX-API-Keyheader. - Check the HTTP status before saving or processing the response as a PDF; successful output is binary data, not text.
- Make sure the page URL is publicly reachable by the rendering service. A page available only inside your network or behind an inaccessible login will not be available to the renderer.
Styles, fonts, or images are missing
Check whether the page’s CSS, fonts, and images are independently reachable by the rendering service. External resources can fail even when the page itself loads. The cURL examples and troubleshooting guidance discuss inaccessible resources.

Dynamic content is absent
Try a suitable waitFor value within the documented 0–10 second range. If the missing content depends on a late-running script or a resource that never becomes available, waiting alone may not fix it. Review the page’s JavaScript behavior and resource accessibility, then test again.
The page spans multiple PDF pages
A custom pixel width and height are available as a pair, but the documentation does not guarantee that a long webpage will become one PDF page. Inspect the result and choose page dimensions or a documented paper format appropriate to your use. For a raster image, separately check the converted image’s dimensions and readability.
