You can stream an Odia radio station on YouTube by feeding an authorized station audio output into an encoder, pairing it with a suitable video signal, and sending the stream to YouTube Live using the server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. To keep it running around the clock, you must also plan for interruptions, rights checks, monitoring, and restarts: YouTube does not promise that one broadcast will stay live indefinitely.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified, has live streaming enabled, and has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s overview currently states that streamers must be at least 16. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance during setup because requirements can change.
- An authorized audio feed from the station’s radio console or playout system.
- An encoder and a computer or other compatible encoding setup that can send audio and video to YouTube.
- A video source, such as a program visual or studio camera. The visual itself must be owned or cleared for use.
- A stable upload connection, plus a plan for power, Internet, and encoder failures.
- Permission for the actual music recordings, performances, territories, YouTube simulcast, and any archived copy.
Connect the station audio to an encoder
Identify the console output first
Choose an appropriate output from the radio console or playout system and determine whether it can connect directly to the encoder computer. If the computer lacks a compatible audio input, an audio interface may be needed. The right connection depends on the console’s connector and signal level, the number of channels required, and computer compatibility; do not buy an interface before checking those details. YouTube’s encoder guidance recognizes external audio and video hardware as part of encoder workflows: YouTube live-streaming tips.
Provide video as well as audio
An encoder-based YouTube Live stream needs a video signal in addition to the station audio. A studio camera or suitable program visual can serve that purpose. A still image or music is not automatically free to use; check rights for every element included in the broadcast.

- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup steps.
- Copy the stream server URL and stream key shown for the event into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the key as a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not control the stream.
- Configure the encoder to take audio from the station feed and video from the chosen visual source. Confirm that the meters move and that both sources are present before going live.
- Start sending the feed from the encoder, then check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before directing listeners to the watch page.
Choose settings your connection can sustain
YouTube recommends RTMPS, which carries RTMP through an SSL connection. Its encoder settings page recommends the following H.264 ingest bitrates for two common configurations; they are technical recommendations, not guarantees of stream quality or audience performance.

| Video configuration | Recommended H.264 bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps |
For the listed configurations, YouTube advises constant bitrate (CBR), AAC or MP3 audio, and a stereo audio bitrate of 128 Kbps. Consult the current encoder settings and bitrate table for the exact codec, resolution, and frame rate you select. Test using the station’s actual feed and upload connection rather than choosing settings from the headline bitrate alone.
Clear music and other content for YouTube
A station’s terrestrial broadcast permissions may not cover a YouTube simulcast or an archived copy. The station and territory matter, so check with the relevant rights holders and licensing bodies for the repertoire, recordings, performances, territories, live use, and archive rights. Do not assume a local radio licence automatically grants YouTube rights.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can lead to a placeholder, an interruption, or termination. Even licensed content can be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel in Content ID; Content ID claims may also be made after an archived stream is processed. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams. If a rights holder manages the relevant content, ask whether the channel needs to be allowlisted before launch.

Operate a continuous stream without assuming it is indefinite
Monitor the complete signal path
- Check the console output, encoder audio meters, video preview, and YouTube stream-health indicators.
- Open the public watch page from a separate device or network and confirm that listeners can access it and hear the intended audio.
- Test before announcing the stream. YouTube recommends test streams, monitoring, and failover checks in its live-streaming tips.
Plan for interruption and archive limits
Power loss, an Internet outage, encoder failure, or a YouTube interruption can stop the feed. Decide who will notice, how the encoder will be restarted, and whether the station has a backup connection or equipment. If using failover, test it rather than relying on an untested backup.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not establish that one continuous broadcast will remain live indefinitely or that a longer stream will be fully archived. Choose a planned stream-boundary and restart workflow, and verify how the archive behaves on the station’s own channel. YouTube’s encoder stream setup guidance covers creating and scheduling streams.

Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube-only option that plays uploaded recordings rather than broadcasting from a camera, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud. The steps are: upload a recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and it is $9.99 per month. This may suit a station using pre-recorded programming; it does not capture a live studio feed from a camera. Start the free day on StreamNeo.

Common problems and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| No audio in the preview | The encoder is listening to the wrong input, or the console output is not reaching the computer. | Check the selected input, console output, interface connection, and encoder meters. |
| Audio is distorted or too quiet | The console output level and encoder input level may not be matched. | Check the output and input levels at each point in the signal chain; confirm that the correct input is selected. |
| Video or audio drops, or the stream health is poor | The upload connection or chosen encoder settings may not be stable. | Test the actual connection, use settings suited to its sustained upload capacity, and inspect YouTube’s health indicators. |
| The stream does not appear in YouTube | The encoder may not be sending to the correct server URL, or the stream key may be wrong. | Compare the encoder destination and key with the values in Live Control Room. Keep the key private. |
| The live feed is replaced, interrupted, or stopped | YouTube may have detected third-party content, or a technical interruption may have occurred. | Check YouTube’s live notice and copyright status, resolve rights or allowlisting issues with the rights holder, and follow the tested restart procedure. |
