Choose the input and output format
GrabzIt supports converting an HTML snippet or a webpage into an image. Its documented image formats include PNG, JPG, BMP, WEBP, TIFF, and SVG. GrabzIt recommends PNG when image quality is the priority and JPG when a smaller file is the priority; that is the vendor’s guidance, not a guarantee about the size of a particular page. - HTML snippet: Send the markup you want rendered.
- Webpage: Use the service’s webpage conversion route when the source is a URL rather than markup. The REST HTML endpoint described below specifically takes HTML in the request body.
Convert an HTML snippet with the REST API
GrabzIt’s REST documentation specifies an HTTP POST request for HTML conversion, with URL-encoded form values and the media type application/x-www-form-urlencoded. REST request checklist
- Obtain your GrabzIt application key and secret through the service’s account setup. The REST example uses the application key; never substitute a real credential into code published to the public.
- Build the HTML you want rendered, including any styles or content it needs.
- POST URL-encoded form fields for the key, the PNG format, and the HTML markup. Ensure values are encoded rather than concatenated into an unescaped form body.
- Save the response body as a PNG file and check the HTTP response for errors before treating it as an image.
REST request or language library?
GrabzIt describes both a direct REST workflow and language libraries. Choose the REST approach if you want to make an HTTP request yourself; choose a supported library when its method fits your application and you prefer an SDK call. The documented Node.js method is html_to_image(html, options), and the PHP library documents an HTMLToImage method. Protect your application key
GrabzIt’s REST documentation warns: “Do not use this API on the client side, it will expose your Application Key!” Keep REST calls in a backend or another protected server environment. GrabzIt points client-side developers to its JavaScript API and says IP access can be restricted. Review its security guidance and choose an approach appropriate to where your code runs. Troubleshoot common conversion problems
- The request is rejected or returns an error: Confirm that the request is a POST, that the endpoint and required fields match the current REST documentation, and that the form content type is
application/x-www-form-urlencoded. - The HTML is malformed or arrives truncated: URL-encode every form value. Do not build the request body by inserting raw markup that contains reserved characters.
- The output is not a PNG: Check that the format field is set to
pngand that you are saving the returned response as an image rather than treating it as text. - The key is exposed in the browser: Move the REST request to a server. For a client-side integration, GrabzIt recommends its JavaScript API.
- A library call does not accept an option: Check the reference for the specific language library; the existence of an option in one language’s example does not prove all libraries expose the same options.

Can I convert a webpage URL with GrabzIt, or only an HTML string?
GrabzIt describes both webpage and HTML-snippet input. The REST procedure in this guide is specifically the HTML-body workflow; use the webpage conversion documentation for a URL input.
