2. OBS on a computer you maintain: avoid a streaming-service subscription
OBS is free, open-source software for streaming and recording. YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming, and lists OBS in its encoder catalog. This route avoids a cloud-service subscription, but it is not cost-free to operate: you supply the computer, electricity, reliable internet connection, configuration, and ongoing maintenance. The official sources cited here do not calculate those costs or specify computer requirements for a particular workload.
What to budget and verify
- A computer capable of continuously playing your content and running OBS.
- Power and an internet connection stable enough for a continuous upload.

5. Gyre and Restream: relevant, but not established as the cheapest loop services
Gyre
YouTube’s encoder catalog identifies Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded streaming. That confirms it is relevant to this use case, not that YouTube endorses its performance or that it is the lowest-cost choice. A comparable current price and matching capacity details are not established here, so compare its live plan terms directly.
Restream
Restream’s pricing FAQ describes prerecorded broadcasts through Upload & Stream and a free multistreaming tier for two of its 30+ channels. That may suit a creator who wants to distribute prerecorded broadcasts or multistream, but it does not establish that a stream can run unattended in an indefinite loop.
