1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsA webpage PDF can omit images because the browser prints a different version of the page than the one displayed on screen. First check the print preview: if backgrounds or decorative graphics are missing, enable the browser’s background-printing option. If ordinary images are missing too, test the page in another browser and compare it with another page to narrow down whether the cause is the site, browser, or wider printing setup.
Why images disappear when you save a webpage as a PDF
Browsers create PDFs from a page’s print rendering, which can differ from its on-screen layout. Some page graphics are backgrounds rather than regular inline images, and browsers may omit backgrounds unless you enable a print setting. Other missing images may be caused by the site’s print layout, damaged page graphics or code, a browser problem, or an image that did not load.
Microsoft notes that damaged graphics, fonts, or code on a website can cause printing problems. A missing image is therefore not necessarily a PDF-file problem, and enabling background printing will not fix every cause.
Check the print preview and background settings
Microsoft Edge
- Open the webpage and choose Print (or press Ctrl+P on Windows).
- In the print dialog, expand More settings.
- Turn on Background graphics.
- Review the preview. If the missing content was a background graphic, it should now appear there.
Microsoft recommends enabling Background graphics when the preview or printed result differs from the webpage. This setting applies to background graphics, not to every kind of image. Microsoft Support: Troubleshoot print issues in Microsoft Edge.

Mozilla Firefox
- Open the page’s print dialog and inspect the print preview.

- If the page is set to Simplified, switch to the original page format: Firefox’s Simplified format disables the Print backgrounds control.
- To save the preview as a PDF, choose Save to PDF from the destination dropdown.

Identify whether the page, browser, or system is at fault
Use the same page and browser comparisons before changing drivers or other system settings. Change one variable at a time and check the print preview after each test.

| Open the same page in another browser and print it. | If images appear in one browser but not the other, the issue may be specific to the first browser or its settings. If the same images are missing in both, the page or its print styling is a stronger possibility. | Check the affected browser’s print options and state; if the problem follows the page, continue with the page-specific tests below. |
| Print a different webpage or document in the affected browser. | If other pages print correctly, the original page’s content or styling may be involved. If they also fail, investigate the browser or broader printing setup. | In Edge, Microsoft suggests trying Immersive Reader to see whether page styling is involved, where that option is available. |
| Print from another application. | If the problem also occurs outside the browser, it may involve the printer driver, Windows, connectivity, or hardware rather than just the webpage. | Investigate the relevant system or printer setup instead of treating it as a webpage-only issue. |
For Firefox-specific printing trouble, Mozilla recommends checking whether the page works in another browser and documents clearing saved print settings as a troubleshooting step. Mozilla Support: Fix printing problems in Firefox. When only one image is missing
If the missing item is a standalone image, Firefox says it can typically be opened in a new tab and printed directly. This may help retrieve that one image, but it does not repair a webpage PDF whose print layout omits multiple images.
