There is no single FFmpeg switch that recovers every kind of stream failure. For a 24/7 Hindi music stream, match recovery to the failure: use -stream_loop -1 for a local track that should repeat, HTTP reconnect options for a disconnecting HTTP input, the FIFO muxer for temporary RTMP output failures, and an operating-system service manager to restart FFmpeg if the process exits.
These are separate layers. Input reconnect options do not fix an output failure; FIFO recovery cannot restart an exited process; and restarting FFmpeg cannot fix a bad stream key or unsupported output settings. The destination and source protocols determine which options apply.
Choose recovery for the failure you have

FFmpeg’s documentation describes -stream_loop as setting how many times an input is looped; -1 means infinite looping. The FIFO muxer documentation says its recovery option attempts to recover an output after failure, particularly for network output. Loop a local Hindi music file to an RTMP destination
For a single local track, place -stream_loop -1 before the input it governs. The following pattern combines that input loop with FIFO output recovery for RTMP:

"rtmp://YOUR_HOST/YOUR_APP/YOUR_STREAM_KEY"- Replace the input path with the actual audio file and the RTMP URL with the destination’s supported endpoint and stream key.
- Confirm that the destination supports the selected audio codec and bitrate. The AAC and 128 kb/s values above are example settings, not universal requirements.
- Keep the stream key private: do not publish it in scripts, screenshots, or logs. Use the secret-handling method available in your deployment.
- Run the command interactively and confirm the destination receives playable audio before configuring it to run continuously.
This combined command is an illustrative pattern, not a tested Hindi-music service configuration. With -drop_pkts_on_overflow 1, a full FIFO queue drops packets so encoding can continue; the stream may lose audio during overflow. Without dropping packets, the encoder can instead block while the muxer catches up.
Using several tracks
Looping one file does not create a multi-track, shuffled, or gapless playlist. Choose a playlist or source strategy that provides the required track order and metadata, then test transitions and reconnect behavior against the actual destination. Do not assume gapless playback or shuffle behavior without verifying it.

Reconnect an HTTP music input
When the input itself is an HTTP stream, place HTTP reconnect options before the input they govern. For example:

-i "https://YOUR_HTTP_SOURCE" ...OUTPUT_OPTIONS...FFmpeg documents options for reconnecting after disconnects before EOF, at EOF for an endless stream, on TCP/TLS connection errors, and for streamed or non-seekable inputs. It also documents -reconnect_on_http_error for selected HTTP status codes (including 4xx and 5xx groups), along with -reconnect_max_retries and -reconnect_delay_total_max to limit attempts or total delay.

- Choose status codes, retry counts, and delay limits to suit the source provider’s behavior and policies.
- Check the installed FFmpeg build’s local help or documentation; packaged and custom builds may differ from the current online documentation.
- Verify that the source provider permits reconnecting. The example is an input pattern, not a validated configuration for a particular Hindi music source.
These are HTTP input options. They should not be treated as a general solution for an RTMP output dropping.
Recover a temporary RTMP output failure
For a temporary network failure on an RTMP output, FFmpeg’s documented pattern places the FIFO muxer at the output, for example:

"rtmp://YOUR_HOST/YOUR_APP/YOUR_STREAM_KEY"The one-second recovery wait shown here is a configurable example from FFmpeg documentation, not a measured reliability figure. With this example’s wait interval, FFmpeg keeps attempting recovery. Decide whether to drop packets on queue overflow or allow the encoder to block; the former can lose content, while the latter can interrupt forward progress until the muxer catches up.

A muxer cannot recover a process that has terminated. Configure the service manager for the operating system running FFmpeg, and verify its restart policy, restart delay, start limits, boot behavior, and logs against documentation for that OS and service-manager version. Exact service-file directives vary, so do not copy a unit file without checking its fit for the target machine.

Test supervision separately from network recovery: trigger a controlled process exit and confirm the manager behaves as intended. A process restart still cannot fix a bad stream key, missing local file, unavailable source, incompatible output configuration, or a destination that rejects the connection.

- Identify the protocol used by both input and output, then choose options for the endpoint that is failing.
- Check the installed FFmpeg version and available options locally before relying on a flag.
- Test the command in a terminal and confirm the destination accepts it.
- Cause or wait for a controlled disconnect where practical; confirm playable audio resumes at the destination rather than judging success only by the FFmpeg process still running.
- Review FFmpeg and service-manager logs, and monitor playback from a client or destination status page.

Stable hosting, network connectivity, and power continuity are operational considerations for an always-on setup. They do not replace protocol-specific reconnect settings or process supervision.
