Castr’s published limit for one uploaded pre-recorded video is 1 hour on Starter, 2 hours on Standard, and 4 hours on Premium, Ultra, or Events. The four-hour cap applies to each file—not to the total length of a playlist. Castr lists infinite looping on Premium and higher, which can keep a playlist broadcasting continuously.
How Castr’s pre-recorded video limits work
Castr’s plan comparison lists the maximum duration for an individual pre-recorded file. The limits below are from Castr’s pricing page, accessed October 3, 2026; plan features can change, so check the current Castr pricing page before choosing a plan.
| Plan | Maximum duration per file | Files per pre-recorded stream | Pre-recorded storage | Concurrent pre-recorded streams | Infinite loop |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 60 minutes | 2 | 4 GB | 1 | Not included |
| Standard | 120 minutes | 2 | 4 GB | 1 | Not included |
| Premium | 240 minutes | 10 | 10 GB | 2 | Included |
| Ultra | 240 minutes | 15 | 20 GB | 3 | Included |
| Events | 240 minutes | 15 | 20 GB | 3 | Included |
These are separate limits: a plan’s maximum file duration does not tell you how much material can fit in a playlist. File count, storage, and the number of simultaneous pre-recorded streams also vary by plan. Castr’s prerecorded-video FAQ confirms the 60-, 120-, and 240-minute duration limits. See Castr’s prerecorded-video information for its workflow details.
Can a Castr stream run longer than four hours?
Yes, if you mean the total time a playlist can play rather than the length of one uploaded file. Castr lists infinite looping on Premium, Ultra, and Events, and describes loop mode as continuous or 24/7. A four-hour file remains subject to the per-file cap, but a supported playlist can continue by looping rather than ending after one pass.

Starter and Standard do not list infinite looping. Castr’s help documentation says its prerecorded workflow accepts MP4 files, can combine multiple videos into a playlist, and supports looping or date-and-time scheduling. The cloud plays the files and sends the scheduled broadcast to connected destinations such as YouTube, without requiring an encoder or OBS. See Castr’s pre-recorded streaming setup guide.
What the four-hour limit does—and does not—mean for YouTube
Castr’s four-hour maximum is a limit on one file uploaded to Castr. It is not a stated YouTube limit on the length of a livestream, nor does it define how long YouTube keeps a livestream archive.

A Google-hosted production guide says livestreams up to 12 hours are automatically turned into video-on-demand, and that streams longer than 12 hours should be recorded by the team for manual upload. The guide’s publication date is not established, so treat that as archive context rather than a current guarantee; verify YouTube’s current Help guidance if preserving an archive matters to you. YouTube archiving and Castr’s per-file upload cap are different issues.
Castr also has an older Help Center article stating that ordinary live-source streams can run without a duration limit while the subscription remains active and has sufficient streaming bandwidth. That statement concerns a live source, not an uploaded prerecorded file, and does not override the explicit file-duration limits in Castr’s current plan comparison.

Choosing a plan for a YouTube playlist
- One file up to an hour: Starter’s stated file cap is 60 minutes; it lists two files per prerecorded stream and 4 GB of storage.
- One file over an hour and up to two hours: Standard’s cap is 120 minutes; like Starter, it lists two files per stream and 4 GB of storage, without infinite looping.
- A file over two and up to four hours, or continuous looping: Premium and higher list a 240-minute file cap and infinite looping. Compare their file counts, storage, and concurrent-stream limits in the table.
- Multiple simultaneous broadcasts: Check the concurrent-stream column against your needs; the listed allowance ranges from one to three.
The available plan details establish feature limits, but not which tier is best value for a particular workload. Check Castr’s current pricing and terms before subscribing.
