To reduce disconnects, measure the hotspot’s sustained upload speed where and when you stream, choose an encoder bitrate that leaves roughly 20% upload headroom, and test an unlisted broadcast while watching both encoder errors and YouTube’s stream health. Ethernet can improve the connection between a computer and a router, but it cannot stabilize the cellular link itself. Without details such as your device, location, plan, settings and error messages, there is no reliable way to identify the cause of a particular Jio 5G interruption.
Start by separating the three possible failure points
A 24/7 stream depends on the encoder producing a healthy signal, the connection carrying that signal outbound, and YouTube receiving it. A disconnect can occur at any of these points. The fact that the hotspot uses Jio 5G does not, by itself, identify which one failed.
- Encoder or computer: Look for encoder errors, dropped frames, abnormal CPU load, or a preview that stops updating.
- Hotspot or internet path: Check sustained upload performance and whether other apps lose connectivity at the same time.
- YouTube ingest: Read the stream-health status and error message in YouTube Live Control Room. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance distinguishes encoder output problems from outbound connection problems (YouTube Help: Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream).
Write down the exact time of each interruption and the wording of the encoder and YouTube messages. Timestamps make it easier to compare symptoms with upload tests or share useful evidence with Jio support.

Test the connection you will actually use
Download speed is not a substitute for upload capacity: YouTube notes that download speed is often higher. Test outbound speed at the same location and time of day as the stream, repeat tests during busy and quiet periods, and retest with the full setup running. A single fast result does not demonstrate reliable service around the clock. YouTube recommends leaving about 20% upload headroom beyond the stream bitrate; account for a backup stream as well if you are running one (YouTube Help: Streaming tips).

Use an appropriately conservative bitrate
For H.264, YouTube’s published recommendations include these reference bitrates. They are platform recommendations, not measurements of your Jio connection; choose a lower setting if your sustained upload varies or cannot leave adequate headroom. Confirm the current guidance for your chosen codec and mode before configuring the encoder.
| Video mode | YouTube H.264 recommended bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 6 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps |
The minimums stated in YouTube’s H.264 table are 3 Mbps for 720p30 and 5 Mbps for 1080p30. A minimum is not a target for a variable cellular connection: the relevant question is whether upload remains sufficient under real streaming conditions. YouTube’s full encoder table and settings guidance are at Choose live encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions.

Run a controlled troubleshooting sequence
- Record an interruption. Note its time, YouTube stream-health message, encoder message, and whether the preview continues. Preserve a local recording if your encoder supports it.
- Check the encoder and computer. Watch the preview, encoder status and CPU load. If the encoder itself reports trouble or stops producing normally, address that before changing the hotspot.
- Test sustained upload at the stream location. Repeat at different times, and while the full streaming setup is active. Use the observed stability—not the best isolated speed test—to choose a bitrate with YouTube’s approximate 20% headroom in mind.
- Reduce the video load for a trial. Start with a lower resolution or frame rate and a bitrate comfortably within sustained upload capacity. Change one setting at a time so you can tell whether it affects the failure.
- Rehearse an unlisted stream. Start the encoder early, check the YouTube preview and stream health, and keep monitoring through conditions that typically precede a disconnect. YouTube recommends testing before a live event and rehearsing backup encoder failover; a rehearsal improves preparedness but does not prove a cellular outage will recover seamlessly (YouTube Help: YouTube live streaming tips).
- Escalate with evidence. If encoder output remains healthy while outbound connectivity fails, give Jio support interruption timestamps and repeated upload-test results. YouTube likewise advises contacting your internet provider when connection testing indicates a problem.
What Ethernet can—and cannot—fix
YouTube recommends Ethernet for computer streaming. If your hotspot gateway or router has an Ethernet port, a Cat6 cable can connect it to the computer and remove Wi-Fi instability from that local segment. This is useful only if the wired link is supported by your equipment.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteA cable between the computer and gateway does not change the cellular signal, tower congestion, handoffs, Jio routing or hotspot policy. If the cellular uplink is where connectivity fails, Ethernet alone will not repair it.

Plan recovery without assuming the cause
The available evidence does not establish why a particular Jio 5G hotspot stream disconnects. Signal changes, congestion, handoffs, device heat or power, plan conditions and encoder configuration are possibilities to investigate—not diagnoses. Compare the interruption times with encoder status, YouTube stream health, sustained upload tests and whether other applications also lose connectivity.
If comparing your current phone hotspot with a cellular router or wired broadband, measure sustained upload, jitter or packet loss at the actual location; check gateway-to-encoder Ethernet, power and thermal behavior, SIM and plan compatibility, and tested failover behavior. No particular router, antenna, SIM or plan change can be recommended as a guaranteed fix without establishing compatibility and the failure mode.

Keep mobile-data use in view
YouTube gives about 10 MB per minute as a rule of thumb for mobile streaming, but actual consumption varies with bitrate and stream conditions. A continuous stream can therefore use substantial data; check your plan’s terms and usage allowance rather than treating that estimate as a precise 24/7 total (YouTube Help: Filming tips – Live).
