You can stream prerecorded lofi music on YouTube around the clock by sending a continuous audio-and-visual feed through an encoder or cloud service. First enable live streaming on your verified channel, connect the encoder with YouTube Studio’s stream URL and key, test the feed, and confirm you have rights to every recording, composition, and visual. For a hands-off option, StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud to YouTube; for a local setup, the steps below explain how to configure and monitor your own encoder.
Before you start: check live access and music rights
Enable live streaming ahead of time
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time live activation can take up to 24 hours, and YouTube’s overview says the minimum age to livestream is 16. Check access before you prepare a launch: YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
Get permission for both the music and the visuals
“Lofi,” a creator credit, a royalty-free label, or buying a track does not by itself establish that you may livestream it. You are responsible for securing the necessary rights to each sound recording and composition, as well as any artwork or video in the stream. Keep the licence or written permission for each asset, including its permitted platforms and uses.

Choose how to keep the prerecorded feed running
Local encoder: control the setup yourself
YouTube accepts streams from software encoders and standalone hardware. A local setup gives you direct control, but the computer, encoder, power, and internet connection must keep supplying the feed. The encoder or a separate workflow must keep the selected audio and visual looping; do not assume that every encoder automatically loops files, restarts after a failure, or provides unattended 24/7 operation.
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance lists verified encoder products and notes that they are not made by YouTube. OBS is among the encoders supporting YouTube HLS output. YouTube also lists AWS Elemental MediaLive as a cloud live-video processing option; that listing alone does not establish its cost or suitability for a single music channel.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for keeping a channel live from uploaded videos. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the video without requiring your computer, OBS, home power, or home internet connection to stay on. Each slot includes 24/7 looping and playlists, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team. The uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot with no re-encoding or quality tiers.
The first day is free with no card, once per account. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Other available billing periods are daily, weekly, six months, and yearly; cancel any time. UPI and cards are supported in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. See StreamNeo for details, then start your free first day.
Set up a local YouTube encoder stream
- Create a live stream in YouTube Studio. Choose the live-stream workflow that connects an encoder, then copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the event. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not control the stream.
- Prepare a continuous source. Select the prerecorded tracks and a visual loop, then configure the encoder or playback workflow to send them continuously. Confirm that the audio does not stop between tracks and the video remains valid through transitions. The exact file-loop and unattended-restart controls depend on the encoder; YouTube does not prescribe one universal playlist-loop setup.
- Enter the stream connection details. In the encoder, select YouTube as the destination and enter the stream URL and key from the Studio event. Use RTMPS where supported for secure ingestion, following YouTube’s encoder settings recommendations.
- Set conservative output parameters. Use constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (YouTube says not to exceed four seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. For stereo audio, YouTube recommends 44.1 kHz at 128 kbps. For a simple visual loop, 720p at 30 fps is a reasonable starting point; YouTube’s settings table gives 2 Mbps for that video setting. These are recommendations, not universal minimums. Choose a bitrate your sustained upload can handle.
- Start with a test, then go live. Start the encoder and wait for the incoming feed to appear in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room preview. Check the audio, moving image, and stream health before making the event public. When the preview is correct, start or schedule the public broadcast using Studio’s controls.
YouTube automatically transcodes live streams for different devices and network conditions. HLS is an alternative ingestion protocol for supported cases, with distinct segment and format requirements and higher latency than continuous RTMP delivery. A prerecorded lofi playlist does not require HLS just because the audio was recorded earlier. See YouTube’s HLS setup guidance if you specifically need that protocol.
Test the stream before leaving it unattended
Run a private or unlisted test with representative audio and motion. Check the Studio preview, the channel’s watch page, and playback on a mobile device. Listen for silence, clipping, abrupt track gaps, or a visual that freezes or disappears. YouTube recommends leaving upload bandwidth headroom; its streaming tips specify 20%. For a continuous broadcast, that means not running the encoder at the full capacity of a connection that may fluctuate.
Test any encoder failover or restart feature before relying on it. Plan how you will notice and respond to failures involving playback, the computer, power, the network, or the encoder. YouTube advises monitoring stream quality and health, but its guidance does not promise an uptime level or a universal unattended-recovery setting. - The stream option is unavailable: Check that the channel is verified and has no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- Studio does not receive the encoder feed: Recheck the event’s stream URL and key, confirm the encoder is sending to YouTube, and verify that the outbound connection is working. If necessary, generate or select the correct key in Studio and update the encoder.
- Video or audio stutters: Check stream health and whether the connection can sustain the configured bitrate. Reduce output demands if needed and preserve the recommended upload headroom; test again before relaunching unattended.
- The audio stops or the picture freezes between tracks: Inspect the encoder or playlist’s loop behavior and transitions. YouTube does not specify a universal file-loop setting, so verify the workflow’s behavior with a representative test.
- YouTube replaces the feed or ends the stream: Check Studio for a copyright warning, claim, or strike. If you have permission, contact the rights owner about allowlisting your channel in Content ID; keep licence records available. YouTube explains these cases in its copyright guidance for live streams.
- The stream stops after a local failure: Check the encoder, playback process, computer power, and network connection. Configure and test recovery procedures, or use a cloud workflow if keeping local equipment running and monitored is not practical.
Keep the channel compliant and sustainable
Before launch, make sure the stream is more than an unattended loop of material you do not control: retain rights records and respond to Studio notices. YouTube’s music-rights and Content ID checks apply during live broadcasts, and a licensed track can still require the owner to allowlist your channel. Recheck YouTube’s current requirements and encoder recommendations before changing the stream setup, since platform guidance can change.
