Choose HTML/CSS to Image if your main job is generating original, repeatable graphics from your own HTML, CSS, or templates. Choose Urlbox if you mainly capture existing third-party pages and need capture-oriented options such as stealth mode, retries, scrolling video, extraction, or completion webhooks. Both also handle ordinary URL and HTML rendering, so compare the exact output, usage limits, and plan costs your workflow requires. The vendor comparison was last reviewed September 30, 2026, and reports no comparative rendering or performance tests; it does not establish that either service is faster, more reliable, or more accurate.
HTMLCSStoImage vs Urlbox: the practical difference
These hosted APIs overlap, but their documented strengths point to different workloads. HTML/CSS to Image (also styled as HTML/CSS to Image) focuses on producing designed assets: render your HTML and CSS, use templates and a visual editor, generate Open Graph images, and work with image hosting and transformations. Urlbox focuses more on capturing and processing existing pages, with documented URL and HTML rendering, screenshots, PDFs and videos, plus text, HTML, and metadata extraction.
That distinction is a way to narrow your evaluation, not a quality verdict. The comparison is published by HTML/CSS to Image, which says it reviewed both providers’ materials but did not run comparative rendering or performance tests. Check the feature and pricing pages directly before committing to plan-specific limits or behavior.
Which API fits your workload?
Choose HTML/CSS to Image for designed assets
- Your team owns the layout and wants to turn variable data into repeatable graphics.
- You want reusable templates or a visual editor for social cards, product graphics, or dynamic Open Graph images.
- Image hosting, transformations, or integrations such as Zapier and Make are part of the workflow.
- You want to submit work in bursts and the reported absence of a published per-minute or concurrency cap matters. Account and plan quotas still apply, and the comparison’s limit information should be verified.
Its documentation covers HTML/CSS image and PDF generation, URL screenshots, and template-based image creation. See the API documentation and URL-to-image guide.

#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose Urlbox for capture-oriented workflows
- You need to capture pages that already exist rather than design most of the image yourself.
- Your workflow may benefit from documented options such as stealth mode, automatic retries, scrolling video, text/HTML/metadata extraction, or render-completion webhooks.
- You need request patterns that include embeddable render links or synchronous and asynchronous JSON API requests.
These capabilities do not guarantee that every target site can be captured. Confirm target-site behavior and whether the features you need are available on your intended plan. Urlbox documents these workflows in its documentation.
Compare both when the task is ordinary rendering
For a straightforward URL or HTML screenshot, either may fit. Make a short list of required output formats, viewport and timing needs, volume, storage and reuse behavior, integration requirements, and any rate or credit constraints before you compare prices.

Published pricing examples
The comparison page, last reviewed September 30, 2026, gives these monthly-billing examples in US dollars before tax. They are not matched-volume comparisons, so the smaller headline price does not by itself show which service costs less for a given workload.

|---|---|---|
| HTML/CSS to Image Basic | $14 per month | 1,000 images |
| HTML/CSS to Image higher-volume example | $69 per month | 10,000 images |

HTML/CSS to Image plan details to check
The pricing page advertises a free plan with 50 images per month and no credit card required. It lists Basic at $14/month, Pro at $149/month, and Scale at $749/month; image volume is selected within each tier. Optional overages are listed as $10 per 1,000 images for Basic and Pro; Scale lists $10 per 1,000 or $50 per 10,000. The page also describes plan differences in template limits, batch sizes, storage, proxy support, and deduplication windows. Check the live plan details for the combination you need rather than assuming every tier includes the same capacity.
Urlbox plan details to check
Urlbox pricing is tiered, and the comparison warns that advanced features may consume additional renders. The comparison describes a seven-day trial rather than an ongoing free API plan. Treat that as a time-sensitive summary and verify current trial terms, plan allowances, included options, and overages directly with Urlbox. Credit use may depend on request options such as rendering time, file size, or GPU.

Rate limits, caching, and total cost
The comparison reports no per-minute or concurrency limits for HTML/CSS to Image rendering and gives Urlbox limits of 30 requests per minute on Lo-Fi, 60 on Hi-Fi, 250 on Ultra, and 1,000 on Business. These are time-sensitive comparison figures, not a guarantee of current account limits. Verify live limits and any concurrency restrictions before designing a queue or burst workload.
Do not assume that caching or reuse works identically across request methods. The comparison distinguishes Urlbox Render Links from REST API requests and describes reuse options for HTML/CSS to Image. Check the relevant endpoint documentation and plan terms for cache behavior, storage duration, deduplication, and whether reuse changes billing.

For a fair cost estimate, calculate the requests your workload will actually make, then account for quota, advanced options that consume additional renders, overage rates, and cache or deduplication behavior. Compare equivalent output needs and volumes; the published plan examples above have different included quantities.
Where ScreenshotNeo fits
ScreenshotNeo is the alternative to try first if the priority is clean screenshots of existing websites: it accepts cookie/consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, and only clean shots are billed.
It also offers PNG, JPEG, WebP, and PDF output, an MCP server for AI agents, and a per-response verdict and billing headers. Its free plan includes 1,000 shots a month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. All features are on every plan. How to make the decision
- Write down whether you are generating original assets from your own design or capturing third-party pages.
- List required outputs and workflows: formats, PDF or video, extraction, templates, webhooks, and integrations.
- Estimate monthly volume and peak request pacing; verify current quotas and rate limits with each provider.
- Check how the exact endpoint handles reuse, storage, feature-related credits, and overages.
- Test representative pages or templates on the plans you would actually buy. The available comparison does not provide independent quality or speed results.
Evidence and limits of this comparison
The main comparison is published by HTML/CSS to Image, a provider included in the comparison. It says it reviewed Urlbox documentation, pricing, SDKs, and MCP materials alongside its own materials, but ran no comparative rendering or performance tests. No independent performance statistic or attributable expert quotation is established by the cited pages. Treat this as a comparison of documented positioning and published plan information, not a benchmark or guarantee of capture success.
