To run a 24/7 Indian lo-fi study stream on YouTube, first secure written rights for every track and visual that cover continuous live streaming and archived playback. Then enable livestreaming for your eligible channel, configure an encoder and live event, test the broadcast, and monitor it for stream-health and copyright alerts. A playlist and reliable computer are not enough on their own: music permission, Content ID handling, and ongoing monitoring are essential.
Before you build the stream: clear the music rights
Rights are the first dependency, not a detail to sort out after launch. YouTube requires the necessary rights to use live content, including music rights involving artists, labels, publishers, and other rights holders. A credit line or a “free music” label does not establish permission. See YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions and tips for finding safe music.
Get permission for live playback and archives
For each track, identify the rights holders for both the sound recording and the underlying composition. Get written permission that expressly covers continuous YouTube livestreaming, the territories where you expect viewers, the license term, monetization if applicable, archived playback, and any editing, looping, or synchronization with visuals. Do not assume a license for an ordinary uploaded video also covers a 24/7 live broadcast.
Keep a rights ledger with the track, writers and performers, recording owner, license document, permitted territories, live and archive scope, expiration date, and Content ID allowlist status. These are practical record-keeping steps based on YouTube’s rights and enforcement requirements, not a YouTube-provided form.

Plan for Content ID
YouTube scans live streams for third-party material. Even if you have a license, a stream can be interrupted if the rights holder has not arranged for your channel to be recognized. Ask each owner how to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist, then verify the arrangement before launch. YouTube also notes that an archived stream can receive a claim after the live broadcast ends. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
The Creator Music FAQ says Creator Music does not support licensing for live content; its usage details limit licensed or revenue-share tracks to long-form uploaded videos, not livestreams or Shorts. The FAQ describes availability for U.S. creators in the YouTube Partner Program, with expansion beyond the U.S. pending. Check its current availability and terms, but do not treat Creator Music as a live-stream license.

Check channel eligibility and choose an encoder workflow
YouTube supports encoder-based livestreaming, a useful approach for a pre-produced music-and-visual program. YouTube says your channel must be verified and have no livestreaming restrictions in the previous 90 days; livestreamers must be at least 16. Confirm your account’s status and current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming setup guide.
An encoder sends the audio and video program to YouTube. The specific software, computer, operating system, and network plan depend on your chosen resolution and reliability needs; the available guidance does not establish a single required computer or minimum hardware specification. Start with equipment you already have, then assess whether it can run the encoder continuously at your intended settings. YouTube says expensive equipment is not required.

Prepare the music and visuals for a study audience
Make the program distinctive
Choose the Indian musical style, language, instruments, and visual atmosphere that fit your intended exam-prep audience. Those are creative decisions, not technical requirements. Use original visuals or visuals you have permission to broadcast, and make transitions unobtrusive. Keep volume consistent so abrupt changes do not distract listeners who may leave the stream playing while they study.
Do not assume a loop is enough for monetization
YouTube’s channel monetization policy says repetitive or mass-produced material can be ineligible under its inauthentic-content policy. A continuous stream format alone does not establish monetization eligibility. Develop original or properly licensed music, thoughtful curation, and a distinct presentation, and review the current YouTube channel monetization policies. The policy notes a clarification dated July 15, 2025; approval or earnings are not guaranteed.

Configure and test the broadcast
- Set up the live event in YouTube Studio. Choose the encoder method and configure the event. Keep the stream key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a broadcast to your channel. Use YouTube’s current interface and encoder instructions, since labels can change.
- Set encoder output for your target resolution. Follow YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance for the chosen resolution. Use a bitrate your upload connection can sustain, and set a two-second keyframe frequency as YouTube’s general encoder guidance recommends. RTMPS is YouTube’s recommended ingest protocol. YouTube transcodes a live stream into output formats for viewers on different devices and networks.
- Test with comparable audio and motion. Use a representative section of the actual program rather than a static placeholder if the full stream will contain moving visuals or changing music. Check both audio continuity and video playback.
- Allow time for checks. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes ahead. - Monitor the live event. Watch the Live Control Room for stream-health alerts and copyright notices, and keep an eye on audio and video quality. YouTube’s testing and monitoring guidance is an operating practice, not a complete unattended failover plan.
Operate, review, and troubleshoot the stream
During the broadcast
Keep someone responsible for checking stream health and responding to alerts. Confirm that licensed tracks remain allowlisted as agreed, and investigate interruptions rather than assuming a reconnect means the underlying issue is fixed. The cited YouTube guidance does not establish a safe maximum duration for one continuous event or provide a complete automated recovery architecture.

Inspect the archived stream for Content ID claims, including claims that appear after the live session ends. If a claim concerns licensed music, compare it with your license scope and follow the rights holder’s agreed process; a license does not guarantee that Content ID will leave the broadcast uninterrupted.

Common problems and what to check
- You cannot start a live stream: check channel verification, account livestream restrictions from the previous 90 days, and the minimum age requirement in YouTube’s current eligibility guidance.
- The live broadcast is blocked or interrupted over music: check the copyright notice, confirm that permission covers live use and the relevant territory, and ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting. Review the archive for later claims.
- The preview or playback is unstable: compare encoder output settings with YouTube’s recommendations for your target resolution, verify that the upload connection can sustain the selected bitrate, and inspect Live Control Room stream-health alerts.
- The archive receives a claim despite a license: verify that the license covers archived playback and that the claim is handled under the owner’s agreed process; do not infer archive rights from a live-only permission.
- You expect monetization from a long loop: review the inauthentic-content policy and assess whether the music, curation, and presentation are genuinely distinctive. The format itself does not guarantee monetization approval.

Plan the costs and rights before committing
For a self-run stream, account for the computer’s power use, a stable upload connection, monitoring, and any replacement or recovery arrangements you need. The right setup varies with resolution, encoder compatibility, reliability requirements, and budget; there is no established universal hardware specification in YouTube’s guidance. For a cloud service, compare the recurring cost and included storage with the time and equipment you would otherwise keep running.
For any music licensing offer, compare live-stream permission, archive and replay rights, territories, monetization scope, claim handling and allowlisting, catalog-wide versus track-by-track coverage, term and renewal, and permission for loops, edits, or visual synchronization.
