Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →To capture a lazy-loaded map reliably, first set the map to the view you want, then wait for a page- or application-specific condition that means that view is ready, and only then call Playwright’s page.screenshot(). There is no universal Playwright signal that confirms every map tile has finished rendering. A quiet network is not proof: networkidle means no network connections for at least 500 ms, and Playwright discourages using it as a test-readiness check. Playwright’s Page API documentation recommends web assertions to assess readiness instead.
Why map screenshots need an explicit readiness condition
Lazy-loaded tiles may be requested as the page becomes visible or as the map is panned or zoomed. A screenshot taken immediately after navigation can therefore show missing tiles or an earlier map view. Establish the intended view first, allow the application to request and render what that view needs, and wait for a condition that reflects the map state you actually want to capture.
Playwright provides page.waitForFunction() for waiting until a function evaluated in the page returns a truthy value, and page.screenshot() for capturing the page. Those APIs let you coordinate the capture, but the predicate must come from the map library or your own application. The Playwright documentation does not define one tile-completion event that works for every map.
Use an application-specific ready signal
- Navigate to the map page and set its intended center, zoom, and viewport. If the test pans or zooms, perform that interaction before waiting.
- Identify a condition that indicates the desired view is ready. Prefer a documented map-library event or an application-owned flag that is set when the relevant view has settled. If neither exists, use a page-specific observable condition that reliably indicates the tiles required for that view are rendered.
- Wait for that condition with
page.waitForFunction(), or use an appropriate Playwright web assertion when it expresses the expected state clearly. - Capture with
page.screenshot()after the condition succeeds.
The following is a runnable pattern once you replace the example predicate with a real condition exposed by your page. It intentionally does not name a map event: the correct event or observable depends on the unspecified map implementation.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
import { test } from '@playwright/test';
test('captures the map after the desired view is ready', async ({ page }) => {
await page.goto('https://example.com/map');
// Establish the view before waiting. Replace this with your app's
// actual map controls or documented API.
await page.getByRole('button', { name: 'Show target area' }).click();
// Replace window.__mapViewReady with a real, page-specific predicate.
await page.waitForFunction(() => window.__mapViewReady === true);
await page.screenshot({ path: 'map.png' });
});
The example assumes the page sets window.__mapViewReady; that property is not provided by Playwright. In production, expose a meaningful state from your application or check a documented map-library signal. A predicate that merely checks that a map container exists can pass before its tiles are rendered.
Why networkidle is not a tile-completion check
Playwright defines networkidle as no network connections for at least 500 ms. That describes network activity, not whether the intended map view is visibly complete. A quiet period can occur before later lazy-loaded requests, and network activity can continue for reasons unrelated to the tiles you need. Playwright explicitly discourages networkidle for tests and recommends web assertions to assess readiness. Use a map- or page-specific state when the requirement is a rendered map.

The official Playwright touch-events guide demonstrates opening Google Maps, panning, and using a screenshot assertion to check the result. It shows that map interaction and visual checks are possible; it does not establish a universal tile-loaded API. Playwright touch events
Choose the wait that matches what you need
| Approach | What it establishes | When it fits | Limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Map or application readiness condition | The page-specific predicate says the intended view is ready. | Use when the application exposes a reliable settled or loaded state. | You must identify and validate the right signal for that map and view. |
networkidle |
No network connections for at least 500 ms. | It may describe a quiet network period, but is not a recommended testing readiness strategy. | It does not assert that the desired tiles have rendered. |
Troubleshoot incomplete map captures
- Tiles are missing: confirm the target center and zoom are set before the wait begins. Check that your predicate tracks the rendered view rather than just the map container or a navigation milestone.
- The wait never resolves: verify that the application actually exposes the property, event, or observable used by the predicate, and that it changes to the expected value for this view. Do not use a guessed event name.
- The screenshot shows the previous view: make sure the pan or zoom action has completed before starting the readiness wait, and ensure the condition corresponds to the new view.
- The network becomes quiet but tiles remain absent: do not treat
networkidleas visual confirmation. Wait for an application-specific signal or assert a meaningful page state.
