Use Chrome DevTools’ Device Mode to set a mobile viewport and capture the page. There is no single manufacturer-verified Galaxy S24 browser CSS viewport size: Samsung’s 6.2-inch FHD+ specification describes the phone’s physical display, not the CSS-pixel dimensions a webpage uses. For a reproducible screenshot, record the width, height, device pixel ratio (DPR), orientation, browser, and whether you captured the visible viewport or the full page.
What viewport size should you use for a Galaxy S24 screenshot?
Samsung identifies the base Galaxy S24 as having a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with FHD+ screen resolution. That hardware specification does not establish the browser’s CSS viewport width or DPR. The official Samsung and Android sources do not provide one universal, verified Galaxy S24 browser width-and-DPR pair for every setup. Samsung’s S24 display information describes the panel; Android’s web-app screen guidance explains viewport dimensions in CSS pixels.
A webpage lays itself out in CSS pixels. Physical screen pixels and DPR concern display density and how those logical coordinates map to pixels; they are related, but they are not interchangeable. Android also notes that a browser may use a wide viewport of about 980 CSS pixels when a page does not specify mobile viewport behavior. A page with a suitable viewport meta tag, commonly width=device-width, can instead use the device-width viewport.

Capture the page in Chrome DevTools
- Open the website in Chrome on desktop, open DevTools, and turn on Device Mode.
- Choose Responsive mode and enter the desired viewport width and height in the viewport controls. These values are CSS pixels.
- If you want a reusable configuration, open the device list’s edit/settings route and add a custom mobile device with a name, width, and height. DPR, user-agent string, and device type are optional fields; device type defaults to Mobile.
- Choose Mobile device type when the goal is to simulate mobile rendering and touch behavior. Set DPR separately if your test needs density-sensitive styles or image selection. Chrome documents these controls in Device Mode.
- Open More options > Capture screenshot to save the visible viewport. Choose More options > Capture a full size screenshot to capture page content below the fold as one tall image. Chrome documents both capture options in its Device Mode guide.
For a repeatable test, note the configured width, height, DPR, orientation, browser, and capture type alongside the image. Those separate settings determine what another person needs to reproduce the emulation.
Choose viewport capture or full-page capture
| Capture choice | What it includes | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Capture screenshot | The content currently visible in the emulated viewport. | Checking the first screen, responsive layout, or a particular visible state. |
| Capture a full size screenshot | The page content extending below the current viewport, as a tall image. | Reviewing a complete page or documenting below-the-fold content. |
These captures answer different questions. Label the capture type if someone might otherwise mistake a viewport image for the whole page.

Check the page’s mobile viewport behavior
If a site appears unusually zoomed out or its layout does not respond as expected, inspect whether the page defines a viewport meta tag such as <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">. Android explains that without mobile viewport configuration, browsers may use a wide viewport around 980 CSS pixels; that is general Android browser behavior, not a measured Galaxy S24 setting. Do not “fix” a mismatch by entering the panel’s physical resolution as though it were CSS width.
Troubleshooting
- The page looks desktop-sized in Mobile mode: Check whether the site specifies a mobile viewport meta tag. A wide viewport may be used when it does not.
- The screenshot dimensions do not match the entered CSS dimensions: Check DPR and the capture type. CSS viewport dimensions describe the simulated webpage area; output image pixels can reflect density scaling, and a full-size capture includes content beyond the viewport.
- A density-specific image or style does not appear: Set the DPR control independently and retest. DPR is not the same value as viewport width.
- The screenshot differs from the real handset: Device Mode simulates a mobile environment. Check the page on a physical S24 when actual-device behavior matters.
- The saved image ends at the fold: Use More options > Capture a full size screenshot rather than the visible-viewport capture.
