StreamNeo is the first cloud service to consider if you want a prerecorded YouTube loop to keep running without leaving a computer on. It hosts uploaded videos and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Other services also advertise automatic restarts, but recovery is not standardized: check whether a service reconnects to the same broadcast or starts another one, what outages it can recover from, and whether there may be a gap.
What “replace a failed video” can mean
A video loop can fail in different ways, and “automatic recovery” does not necessarily mean a service switches to a backup video. It may instead reconnect the encoder, restart the broadcast, or create a new broadcast after a drop. If you specifically need a backup video to take over, ask the provider whether it supports that behavior; the service descriptions below do not establish automatic failover to a different video.
- Reconnect: the service attempts to resume the existing YouTube broadcast.
- Restart: the service starts the broadcast again after a failure; verify whether it uses the same YouTube broadcast.
- Switch to backup media: a different video takes over. Do not assume this is included just because a provider advertises restarts.
Cloud services that advertise automatic recovery
The following descriptions reflect what each provider says about its own service, not independent reliability testing or a comparative ranking. Features and terms can change, so confirm current behavior before relying on an unattended stream.
| Service | Vendor-described recovery | Other relevant details |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Its product description does not specify whether recovery reconnects to the same broadcast, the outage threshold, or the recovery gap. | Cloud-hosted YouTube loops from uploaded videos and playlists, with quality up to 4K 60fps as uploaded at one flat price per slot. One free day per account, with no card required. |
| Streamloop | Its product page says it monitors streams and automatically restarts them. It does not establish the exact outage threshold or whether the restart continues the same broadcast. | The vendor describes playlist editing, scheduling, YouTube and other RTMP destinations, support up to 4K/60fps, and credit-based billing. Confirm current limits and terms with Streamloop. |
| Autostreamer | Its product page says it automatically restarts a broadcast after failure. Same-broadcast behavior and outage thresholds are not established in the reviewed description. | The vendor describes scheduled YouTube broadcasts and playlists. Its page lists a seven-day free period; offers and plan details may change. |
| Loopcast | Its product page says it relaunches dropped broadcasts, and says reconnection uses the same broadcast. Verify the current behavior and terms with Loopcast. | The vendor describes streaming from a datacenter and use of a reusable stream key. |
| LiveGoLive | Its product page describes reconnecting after transient network interruptions; it does not establish recovery from every kind or duration of failure. | The vendor describes a cloud encoder for uploaded playlists. Connecting options include an authorization feature described as beta or pasting a stream key. |
| Nagashippa | Its product page says short interruptions recover automatically, but an interruption longer than about one minute may end the stream without an automatic restart. It also says a broadcast handoff can show a blank screen for roughly 2–3 minutes. | The vendor describes a Japanese cloud service for sending uploaded videos to YouTube and notes that network, equipment, and platform conditions can affect continuity. |
Nagashippa’s page puts the limits plainly: “We won’t promise perfection. Only people who haven’t measured would.” This is a statement by the service publisher, not a named individual. It is a useful reminder to check what a provider actually promises rather than treating “automatic recovery” as a guarantee.

How to choose a service for an unattended loop
- Ask what recovery does: Does it reconnect the same broadcast, restart it, or create a new broadcast? Does it ever switch to backup media?
- Ask which failures it detects: Check whether the claim covers transient network interruptions, a dropped YouTube connection, a cloud process failure, or longer outages. Ask about recovery time and any expected blank interval.
- Check long-outage behavior: Find out whether the loop restarts automatically after an extended failure or needs manual intervention.
- Confirm content controls: Check for playlists, scheduling, and whether you can edit a running playlist without interrupting the stream.
- Match the media requirements: Verify supported formats, resolution and frame rate, and whether the service re-encodes uploads.
- Read the operational limits: Check storage, stream or slot limits, billing periods, and cancellation terms. Treat vendor-listed prices and offers as subject to change.
- Test before depending on it: If possible, run a private or otherwise appropriate test broadcast and ask the provider how to verify recovery without disrupting a public stream.
Cloud hosting versus running your own loop
OBS on a local computer
OBS can keep a prerecorded video running, but the computer, encoder, power, and local internet connection must remain available. You are responsible for detecting a failure and getting the stream back online. This avoids a managed cloud-looping subscription, but it does not remove the need to maintain the local setup.
FFmpeg on a VPS
A virtual private server gives you more control over the looping and server configuration. You also take on setup and ongoing operations, including how the process is monitored and restarted. A VPS does not provide a recovery guarantee by itself; the result depends on your configuration and the provider’s infrastructure.

A managed cloud loop
A cloud looping service hosts the uploaded media and sends the broadcast, so your home computer does not have to remain on. Recovery features vary: verify the exact restart behavior, outage limits, and broadcast continuity with the service you choose. StreamNeo’s guide, published July 3, 2026 and updated September 19, 2026, compares local OBS, FFmpeg on a VPS, and managed cloud streaming: StreamNeo’s comparison of YouTube loop options.
Or let it run in the cloud

Costs and what to verify
Local OBS avoids a managed-service subscription, but you provide the always-on computer, power, internet, and maintenance. A VPS adds server costs and operational work; the exact price depends on the VPS provider and configuration. Cloud services shift hosting and some recovery work to the provider, but billing models and included limits differ. Streamloop describes credit-based billing; confirm its current rates directly. Autostreamer’s page lists a seven-day free period, but that offer and its plan details can change.
StreamNeo uses the same product on every plan; only the duration changes. Each slot includes one always-on YouTube stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team. The listed choices are Daily $0.99 per day · Weekly $2.99 per week · Monthly $9.99 per month · 6 months $49.99 for 6 months · Yearly $89.99 a year. YouTube and content checks before you leave a loop running
- Use video and audio you own or are authorized to broadcast. A cloud service does not grant rights to music, footage, or other material in an upload.
- Review YouTube’s current copyright rules and channel policies before streaming. A loop that runs continuously is not, by itself, evidence that content is original or eligible for monetization.
- Keep a copy of your original files and your stream-key details secure. If you suspect a key has been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the service using it.
- Do not assume the word “24/7” means uninterrupted delivery. YouTube, the network, and the cloud provider can each affect a live broadcast.
StreamNeo offers a copyright safety checklist, an upload-time calculator, and a cloud vs. PC cost calculator.
