To take recurring website screenshots and store them in OneDrive, use Power Automate for desktop to open the site and capture the displayed page, then schedule that desktop flow with a recurring cloud flow. Set the schedule to India Standard Time (IST), and use a OneDrive for Business file action to upload the resulting image. You need an available Windows machine and the right Power Automate account, connection and licensing for the way you plan to run it.
What you need to set up first
- Power Automate for desktop to open the website in a browser and capture its displayed page.
- A machine that can run the desktop flow. Cloud-triggered desktop automation requires a registered machine or machine group and a configured connection.
- A OneDrive for Business connection with access to the destination folder.
- An eligible work or school account and appropriate licensing. Unattended runs have additional requirements, described below.
Microsoft’s connector documentation describes OneDrive for Business file-management actions; the exact labels you see can differ by account and Power Automate designer. OneDrive for Business connector
Build the desktop flow that captures the page
- In Power Automate for desktop, create a desktop flow and add a browser-launch action. Configure it to open the target website in your chosen browser.
- Add any needed wait step so the page has time to render. For pages with variable load times, waiting for a relevant element is generally more dependable than relying only on a short fixed delay.
- Add the browser automation screenshot action. The documented action captures the webpage or an element currently displayed in the browser and can save the result to a file or clipboard. Set it to save to a file. Do not assume it captures the entire page beyond the visible browser area: check the action’s behavior and output for your configuration.
- Give each run a distinct filename. A date-and-time component is a practical way to avoid overwriting yesterday’s capture; confirm the format and path work in your flow.
- Use a OneDrive for Business file action to create or upload the image from the saved file into the intended folder. Check that the connector is signed in to the correct account.
Microsoft’s browser automation actions reference documents the screenshot action. Keep the capture location and the OneDrive destination clear: the desktop flow first produces an image file, and the OneDrive action then stores it online.
Schedule it to run in India
For most setups, use a scheduled cloud flow to invoke the desktop flow. Microsoft also documents a direct Scheduled triggers feature for desktop flows, but it is marked preview and availability can depend on regional rollout. Check whether it is available in your environment before designing around it.
#1 Best Overall
- Easily store and access 2TB to content on the go with the Seagate Portable Drive, a USB external hard drive
- Designed to work with Windows or Mac computers, this external hard drive makes backup a snap just drag and drop
- To get set up, connect the portable hard drive to a computer for automatic recognition no software required
- This USB drive provides plug and play simplicity with the included 18 inch USB 3.0 cable
- The available storage capacity may vary.
Option A: Scheduled cloud flow calling a desktop flow
- Create a Scheduled cloud flow in Power Automate and configure the recurrence you need, such as daily or weekly.
- In the schedule settings, choose the time zone that matches the intended local schedule. For India, choose India Standard Time in the current selector.
- Add the action that runs a desktop flow, then select the desktop flow, machine or machine group, and connection.
- Save the flow and review the displayed next run. The start-time field may be presented in UTC format; the selected time zone governs how the scheduled time is interpreted, so verify the next run rather than manually converting without need.
See Microsoft’s instructions for running a cloud flow on a schedule and for triggering desktop flows from cloud flows.
Option B: Scheduled trigger for a desktop flow
If the Scheduled triggers feature is available to you, you can configure a schedule directly for a desktop flow. Microsoft labels this capability preview and notes that regional rollout may affect availability. Set its time zone to India Standard Time, configure the recurrence, and verify the next run in your environment. Read Microsoft’s Scheduled triggers documentation before relying on this route.

- This USB drive provides plug and play simplicity with the included 18 inch USB 3.0 cable
- The available storage capacity may vary.
| Scheduling route | How it runs | Key consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Scheduled cloud flow | A recurring cloud flow invokes a desktop flow through its machine connection. | Requires the desktop-flow machine and connection setup. |
| Desktop Scheduled trigger | A schedule is configured for the desktop flow itself. | Documented as preview; regional availability may vary. |
Configure the OneDrive destination
In the desktop-flow run, use a OneDrive for Business file action to create or upload the captured image in the target folder. Confirm the connector’s signed-in identity and folder path before enabling recurrence. If more than one OneDrive account is available, make sure the connection belongs to the account that should own the files.

OneDrive’s old screenshot backup setting is not a way to capture websites on a schedule. Microsoft states that the “Save screenshots to OneDrive” feature is no longer available in OneDrive settings. Backing up a Pictures folder can copy screenshots already saved there; it does not visit websites or take new screenshots. Microsoft Support: Save screenshots to OneDrive automatically

Check account, machine and unattended-run requirements
When a cloud flow starts a desktop flow, Microsoft requires a registered machine or machine group and a configured connection, as well as an eligible work or school account and suitable licensing. If the flow must run unattended, Microsoft identifies the Power Automate Process plan as a requirement; an unattended run creates a remote desktop session on the machine. Check current plan entitlements and machine or session constraints in your Microsoft environment before deployment, since licensing and availability can change. Test the capture before relying on recurrence
- Run the desktop flow manually once.
- Confirm the browser reaches the intended page and the desired content is visible before capture.
- Open the saved image and check readability, framing and whether the visible-page capture meets your need.
- Confirm the filename is unique and the file appears in the correct OneDrive folder.
- Check the scheduled flow’s next-run time and then inspect its run history after the first scheduled execution.
Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| No screenshot or an incomplete image | The browser did not finish rendering, or the screenshot action captured only what was displayed. | Add an appropriate wait or wait for a page element; inspect the action configuration and image dimensions. Confirm whether visible-page capture is sufficient. |
| The same file is replaced each run | The flow reuses a fixed filename. | Include a date/time component or another unique value in the filename, then test it for valid characters and folder path. |
| The desktop flow does not start from the cloud flow | The machine may not be registered or available, or the connection/account setup may be incomplete. | Verify the registered machine or group, connection, account eligibility and current licensing requirements. |
| The flow runs at the wrong local time | The selected time zone or recurrence start time does not match the intended schedule. | Choose India Standard Time in the schedule and review the displayed next run; avoid assuming the UTC-formatted field is itself the local time. |
| The image is missing from OneDrive | The connector may be signed in to another account or targeting the wrong folder; the upload action may also have failed. | Check the OneDrive for Business connection identity, folder path and run history for the file action. |
| Unattended execution is unavailable | The environment may not have the required plan or machine/session configuration. | Check the current Power Automate Process entitlement and unattended-run constraints with Microsoft’s documentation and your administrator. |
| The direct desktop schedule option is absent | Scheduled triggers is documented as preview and may not have rolled out to your region or environment. | Use a scheduled cloud flow to invoke the desktop flow if that route is available to your account. |
Or skip the browser setup
If you need a screenshot file from a URL without building a browser flow, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. It returns an image or PDF from one GET request; the file can then be uploaded to OneDrive using your preferred automation.
