To capture an entire webpage with ApiFlash in Python, send a request to its https://api.apiflash.com/v1/urltoimage endpoint with your access key, a complete target URL, and full_page=true. ApiFlash returns image bytes by default, which you can save directly to a file.
Capture a full page with Python
ApiFlash documents GET query parameters and POST form data. This standalone Python example uses the documented GET endpoint and Python’s standard library; it does not require a third-party ApiFlash package.
from urllib.parse import urlencode
from urllib.request import urlopen
endpoint = "https://api.apiflash.com/v1/urltoimage"
params = {
"access_key": "YOUR_ACCESS_KEY",
"url": "https://example.com",
"full_page": "true",
}
with urlopen(f"{endpoint}?{urlencode(params)}", timeout=90) as response:
image_bytes = response.read()
with open("screenshot.jpeg", "wb") as image_file:
image_file.write(image_bytes)
Replace YOUR_ACCESS_KEY with the key from your ApiFlash dashboard and change the target URL. Keep the key private; do not publish it in a repository or expose it in client-side code. The example saves the default JPEG response as screenshot.jpeg. The documented request parameters and binary default response are described in the ApiFlash Screenshot API Documentation.
The code pattern follows the documented endpoint and response format; it was not executed as part of this guide. A response body should be saved in binary mode, as shown, rather than decoded as text.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How can I make a full page screenshot?
Set full_page to true. In this mode ApiFlash captures the whole target page, and the height parameter is ignored. The default is a viewport capture, so omitting this setting will not request the entire page. The official documentation states, “Set this parameter to true to capture the entire page of the target website.” See the API documentation and ApiFlash FAQ.
Pass a complete URL with an http:// or https:// scheme. When using GET, the example’s urlencode encodes the target URL as a query parameter, including characters such as ampersands that would otherwise be interpreted as separators.
Choose output format and response type
ApiFlash returns image data by default. Its documented image formats are JPEG (the default), PNG, and WebP. Choose a format explicitly when you need a different file type; for JPEG and WebP, quality is also configurable. If you request response_type=json, the response shape changes to JSON metadata or links rather than the default raw image bytes, so do not write that response as though it were an image file. Check the parameter documentation for the exact format and response options.

Get reliable captures of dynamic and lazy-loaded pages
Wait until the page is ready
ApiFlash’s default wait condition is network_idle. For pages that populate content after network activity settles, use the documented wait_for or wait_until options to specify a more suitable readiness condition instead of relying on an arbitrary delay. A wait_for CSS selector must appear within 15 seconds; otherwise, capture aborts with an error.

Trigger lazy-loaded content
If the page loads images or other elements as they enter the viewport, consider scroll_page=true. ApiFlash describes this option as scrolling through the page before capture to trigger animations or lazy-loaded elements. Without it, content that loads only during scrolling may be absent from the resulting full-page image. See the API documentation and FAQ.
Adjust the capture and cache
Other documented controls include viewport width, output format, JPEG/WebP quality, and caching. Set fresh=true to bypass a cached screenshot; use ttl to control cache duration. A full-page request ignores height, so changing that parameter will not set the page height in this mode.

Handle errors, quotas, and rate limits
Check the HTTP status when a request fails; different codes point to different fixes. ApiFlash documents these cases in its API documentation.
| Status | Documented cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| 400 | Invalid parameters or a target URL that cannot be captured | Confirm parameter names and values, and verify that the URL includes its scheme and is reachable for capture. |
| 401 | Invalid or revoked access key | Check the dashboard key and ensure the request uses the current key. |
| 402 | Monthly quota exhausted | Check usage and quota headers; wait for the quota period or review the account plan. |
| 403 | The plan does not support a requested feature | Identify the unsupported parameter or feature and check plan eligibility. |
| 429 | Too many requests | Reduce request rate and retry after backing off. |
Successful responses can include quota headers, and the documentation provides a dedicated quota endpoint. The documented rate limit uses a leaky bucket: 20 requests per second with a burst size of 400. Excess requests may be delayed; requests beyond the burst can be terminated with HTTP 429. The documentation also says identical failed capture attempts are limited to five per hour. Avoid rapid retries of an unchanged failing request.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsAccording to the ApiFlash FAQ, cached screenshots and failed captures do not count toward the monthly quota. That does not remove the separate rate limit on repeated identical failures.

ApiFlash is one way to request a full-page capture. If you want an API that handles consent clutter and reports whether a capture was billed, try ScreenshotNeo. Its one-call request returns a screenshot, and its parameters also support full-page capture:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server offers take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents and MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Python example need an ApiFlash package?
No. It uses Python’s standard library. The PyPI project named apiflash advertises a Python client, but its listed example is a placeholder; the official API documentation is the stronger basis for this request pattern. See the apiflash PyPI project.
Can I use POST instead of GET?
Yes. ApiFlash documents both GET query parameters and POST form data. This example uses GET; use the API documentation for the corresponding POST request format and supported parameters.
