Open the Happo comparison linked from your CI job, pull request, or Happo job page; inspect the before-and-after screenshots and their diff; then select Accept for expected changes or Reject for unintended or unexplained ones. Since September 3, 2026, Happo’s comparison and multi-project job pages have one-click Accept and Reject controls. You can also resolve a comparison marked as needing review through an authorized Happo MCP connection.
How to approve or reject visual changes in Happo
- Open the comparison from the relevant CI job, pull request, or Happo job page. Happo documents these review links in its CI review workflow.
- Inspect the screenshots and differences. Use side-by-side view to compare the states broadly, diff view to locate changed pixels, and swipe view to toggle between the before and after images. See Happo’s visual review documentation.
- Check that the change matches the intended code or design work. Review the affected stories, screens, browsers, and viewports included in the run, rather than judging a single screenshot in isolation.
- Choose Accept if the visual changes are expected and acceptable to your team. Choose Reject if they are unintended or still unexplained.
The controls record a review decision; they do not define a universal acceptance policy. Teams should decide what counts as an acceptable change and resolve uncertain differences before accepting them.
What to inspect before deciding
Check the full scope of the run
A component change can affect many rendered examples. Review the stories or screens, browsers, and viewport sizes represented by the comparison. The amount of evidence depends on what your team configured and what the run actually executed.
Happo supports screenshot workflows with Storybook, Cypress, and Playwright integrations. Storybook runs can capture interactive states such as loading, error, hover, and open menus. Happo also describes accessibility regression checks as an option alongside screenshot runs. These checks are not implied by a visual diff; confirm what was configured for the particular run. Separate visual noise from meaningful changes
If a difference looks like anti-aliasing or compression noise, check whether the run uses color-delta tolerance. Happo says tolerance can ignore small pixel differences, but it cannot determine that a substantive layout or styling change is harmless. Inspect the affected element and surrounding page before deciding.
Reviewing multi-project jobs
On September 3, 2026, Happo announced that Accept and Reject became one-click controls on comparison pages and multi-project job pages, replacing the former two-click dropdown workflow. Multi-project jobs also gained status grouping, sortable columns, the option to hide unchanged projects, and a summary count of completed projects with diffs. Approve or reject with Happo MCP
An authorized MCP client can find comparisons by commit SHA, retrieve comparison details—including diffs and added, deleted, or ignored snapshots—and approve or reject a comparison that needs review. It can also report a specific diff as a flake. Happo says reporting a flake ignores that diff and records a Flake row attributed to the connected user.
The Happo MCP server uses Streamable HTTP and OAuth 2.1. The assistant acts with the connected Happo account’s permissions, and approvals and rejections are recorded against that user, as they are when made in the UI. Revoke a connection from the Connected applications section of account API token settings. Consult the Happo MCP documentation for setup and available tools.

No. The MCP connection uses the connected Happo account’s permissions, and decisions are attributed to that user.
