A low-cost PC can keep a prerecorded bhajan playlist streaming to YouTube, but no particular budget computer is established as a guaranteed 24/7 build. Choose the machine only after deciding your video source, resolution, frame rate and encoder; then test the complete setup, including sustained upload, heat and recovery. For a mostly static playlist, 720p30 is a reasonable starting point to trial—not a promise that every PC or connection will handle it.
What the PC needs to do
An encoder takes a video and audio feed, packages it, and sends it to YouTube Live. A prerecorded playlist that repeats has different needs from a live camera, microphone or mixer setup: the latter also needs suitable capture inputs and may require more production capability. YouTube describes encoder streaming as an option for external audio/video equipment and advanced production, but a bhajan loop does not automatically need production hardware. Before choosing a PC, settle these requirements:
- Source: a prerecorded video or playlist, or live audio/video capture.
- Output: target resolution and frame rate. A mostly static prerecorded stream can be tested at 720p30 first.
- Encoder: the software and codec you will use, and whether the PC supports that encoder at the chosen output.
- Continuity plan: what happens if local power, internet, the PC or the YouTube connection fails.
Choose a PC without assuming a magic budget spec
No reviewed source establishes a specific low-cost computer sold in India, a minimum hardware threshold, or a tested parts list that will run continuously. Compare a compact mini PC and a used desktop only after you know the target output and encoder. Check the manufacturer-supported operating system, cooling, storage health, network interface, warranty, and whether the encoder can produce the resolution and frame rate you intend to stream.

Set the YouTube output and test your upload
YouTube recommends choosing quality based on a tested upload connection, then testing with audio and movement representative of the stream. Its H.264 encoder-settings guidance gives these bitrate figures:

These are encoder bitrates, not a guarantee that your ISP’s advertised speed will be available as sustained upload. Test at the intended bitrate, preferably over Ethernet, and leave practical headroom for variation and other household traffic; YouTube does not prescribe a universal headroom multiplier. The figures above are from YouTube’s current guidance accessed 2026-10-03. Check the current encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions when configuring the stream.

Encoder settings that matter
- Rate control: CBR.
- Keyframes: every two seconds; do not exceed four seconds.
- Protocol: RTMP or RTMPS. YouTube recommends RTMPS for an encrypted connection.
- Audio: AAC or MP3.
These are YouTube’s listed encoder settings; use the corresponding options in your encoder rather than assuming a preset has selected them correctly.

- Confirm live eligibility and activation. In YouTube Studio, create or select the live stream and confirm the channel can go live. First-time activation may take time, so do not leave this check until the planned start.
- Open the stream’s setup in YouTube Studio. Use the stream’s server URL and stream key in your encoder. Treat the stream key as a credential: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Set the encoder. Choose the resolution and frame rate, then configure bitrate, CBR, keyframe interval, protocol and audio as above.
- Start a representative test. Include bhajan audio and video movement similar to the real stream. Watch the Live Control Room’s stream health and check the encoder for dropped frames, CPU or hardware-encoder load, and temperatures.
- Run an extended operational trial before relying on it. Check that the PC stays cool under sustained load and observe what happens after a network interruption or encoder restart. This is prudent operational testing, not a YouTube-published duration or certification.
- Launch only after the test is healthy. Monitor the Live Control Room after going live and keep a recovery procedure available.

Plan for Indian connectivity and power conditions
For a YouTube stream, use YouTube’s bitrate guidance and your own sustained-upload test. Separately, India’s National Informatics Centre says its webcast service requires 2–4 Mbps of dedicated bandwidth per stream and access to outbound RTMP port 1935. That is a requirement for the NIC service described on its webcast services page, not a general YouTube minimum.
A local PC stream relies on the power and internet at the location. If you need continuity during outages, back up the encoder and the network path—router and modem as well as the PC. Size a UPS from the measured load of the equipment you will connect and the runtime you need; the available evidence does not establish a particular UPS size, outage runtime or electricity cost for Indian households.

Account for archives and content rights
YouTube’s encoder help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume one endless broadcast is a dependable archive strategy: plan how you will handle recordings and verify YouTube’s current rules before relying on a long-running stream for saved content. Copyright rules still apply to devotional music, recordings and visuals; use content you have rights to stream. YouTube’s encoder guide also lists cloud tools for continuous prerecorded streaming, which may suit a playlist when a home PC is not the right operational fit.
