Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →For a conventional full-stack Ruby web application, start by evaluating Ruby on Rails: it provides an integrated framework and a documented path from installation through tutorials, guides, and API reference. Consider Hanami if its modular, component-based architecture better fits your design. Sinatra, Grape, and Roda are candidates for narrower needs, but check their current documentation and Ruby compatibility before choosing.
How to choose a Ruby framework
Match the framework to the shape of the application rather than choosing by an unsupported popularity or speed ranking. Compare how much functionality and convention you want built in, how much modularity and separation you need, whether the application is primarily HTML/full-stack or API-focused, and which dependencies your team is willing to assemble.
- Integrated full-stack application: Evaluate Rails first if you want a broad framework and a documented learning path.
- Modular full-stack design: Evaluate Hanami if assembling an application from components suits your architecture.
- Narrower service or API needs: Consider Sinatra, Grape, or Roda as candidates, then verify their current capabilities in project documentation.
- Any choice: Check the framework’s Ruby version requirements against the runtime lifecycle and the version your team can support.
Ruby frameworks at a glance
| Framework | Best starting point | What the available sources establish |
|---|---|---|
| Ruby on Rails | Conventional full-stack web applications | Official documentation covers installation, hands-on tutorials, in-depth guides, and API reference. |
| Hanami | Applications where component-based architecture is a fit | The project describes a full-stack framework assembled from smaller libraries that can be used independently or together. |
| Sinatra | A compact service or routing-focused application | A secondary comparison describes it as a compact routing DSL; confirm current details against project documentation. |
| Grape | An API-focused application | A secondary comparison describes endpoint and parameter DSLs; confirm current details against project documentation. |
| Roda | An application centered on routing | A secondary comparison describes a routing-tree framework with plugins; confirm current details against project documentation. |
Ruby on Rails: an integrated starting point
Rails is the clearest first framework to evaluate when you are building a conventional full-stack application and want an integrated approach. Its official documentation provides an entry path through installation and hands-on tutorials, then deeper guides and a full API reference. That breadth makes it easier to assess the framework using the project’s own materials rather than relying on a third-party ranking.
Start with the official Rails guides to understand the framework’s documented workflow and consult its current installation guidance before selecting a Ruby version.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Hanami: a component-based full-stack alternative
Hanami describes itself as a full-stack framework composed of smaller, single-purpose libraries, including Router, Action, View, DB, and Assets. The components can be used individually or together. That makes Hanami worth evaluating when you want to choose how much of a framework to adopt, or when its component boundaries align with your application’s design.
Hanakai announced Hanami 3.0 on June 30, 2026. The release announcement highlights first-class mailers, built-in internationalization, Minitest, and performance and developer-experience improvements. Treat those as release-announcement facts, not as a substitute for checking the current release notes, migration details, and compatibility requirements for your project.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Sinatra, Grape, and Roda for narrower requirements
A secondary RubyLearning comparison characterizes Sinatra as a compact routing DSL, Grape as API-focused with endpoint and parameter DSLs, and Roda as routing-tree based with granular plugins. Those descriptions are useful for identifying candidates, but they are not a current feature audit or evidence of adoption, performance, or memory use.
- For a compact service: Put Sinatra on the shortlist, then review its own current documentation for the routing and middleware behavior your service needs.
- For an API-first design: Assess Grape against the endpoint, parameter, and request-handling requirements of your API, checking its documentation for current support.
- For routing-centered design: Assess Roda if its routing-tree approach appears compatible with your application, and confirm available plugins and maintenance status with the project.
Do not infer that a narrower framework is automatically simpler, faster, or more suitable. Those trade-offs depend on the application, the libraries you add, and your team’s familiarity.

Check Ruby compatibility and maintenance
Framework choice also depends on the Ruby runtime you can use. The Ruby core maintenance page currently lists Ruby 4.0 and Ruby 3.4 in normal maintenance, and Ruby 3.3 in security maintenance. Lifecycle status can change, so check the Ruby branch maintenance page when making a decision. Then verify each framework’s stated Ruby requirements and whether the versions you plan to deploy are supported; runtime maintenance status alone does not establish framework compatibility.
Make the decision with a short evaluation
- Write down the application shape. Decide whether you are building an integrated HTML application, a modular full-stack system, a compact service, or an API-focused product.
- Set the integration boundary. Decide how much functionality and convention you want supplied by the framework versus assembled from separate dependencies.
- Check runtime constraints. Compare framework requirements with a Ruby branch that is maintained for your deployment needs.
- Use project documentation to validate the shortlist. For Rails, work through its documented installation and tutorial path. For Hanami, inspect how its libraries combine. For Sinatra, Grape, or Roda, verify the exact current features you need.
- Test a representative slice. Build a small, comparable part of the application—such as one rendered page or one API endpoint—and assess code organization, dependencies, team familiarity, and operational fit. This is a project-specific evaluation, not a general performance benchmark.
