You can also add it through Streamlabs’ OBS plugin or use the built-in source in Streamlabs Desktop. The URL method works in OBS without the plugin and in other streaming software that supports webpage sources.
How to add a viewer count to OBS with a widget URL
This route does not require the Streamlabs plugin. OBS Browser Source displays a webpage from a URL inside a scene; its width and height control the page viewport, not the size of the whole OBS canvas. Streamlabs and OBS both document this workflow.
- Open the widget: Sign in to the Streamlabs Dashboard and go to All Widgets → Viewer Count.
- Choose platforms and appearance: Select the platform or platforms you want the widget to tally. Adjust the font style, size, weight, color, and, if needed, custom HTML or CSS. Check the Dashboard’s current platform options before relying on a particular service.
- Copy the widget URL: Use the URL provided by the Dashboard. Treat it as the widget’s address and avoid sharing it publicly if your Dashboard identifies it as private.
- Add it in OBS: In OBS Studio, select the scene where the count should appear. In the Sources panel, click +, choose Browser, create or select a source, and paste the widget URL in the URL field.
- Set the viewport: Enter a width and height that fit the widget, then position and resize the source in the scene. OBS’s Browser Source default viewport is 800 × 600; this is an OBS default, not a Streamlabs widget requirement.
- Check the scene: Make sure the source is visible and not covered by another source. Preview the scene and adjust its dimensions and placement until the count is readable without obscuring important content.
The OBS Project describes Browser Source as “one of the most versatile sources available in OBS.” Its properties also include custom frame rate, custom CSS, page permissions, and cache refresh controls. The documented default custom FPS is 30; this is a source default, not a required setting for the widget.
Other ways to add the Streamlabs Viewer Count widget
Use the Streamlabs plugin in OBS
- Install the Streamlabs plugin and log in.
- Open Streamlabs from OBS’s navigation menu, select Viewer Count, and click +Add.
- The widget appears in the current scene. Move and resize it as needed. To change widget settings later, use its Settings route to return to the Dashboard.
This route depends on the plugin. If you prefer not to install it, use the Browser source URL method instead. The official setup information does not establish that either route is universally more reliable.

Use Streamlabs Desktop
- In Sources, click + Add Source and choose Viewer Count.
- Add the source, adjust its visual settings, and click Done.
- Drag and resize the widget in the scene.
Platform availability and customization
Streamlabs’ support guide lists Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, Kick, and Trovo for the widget. Its Viewer Counter product page lists Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, and Kick, but not Trovo. Because these official pages differ, confirm the available platform toggles in your own Dashboard rather than assuming Trovo is supported.
The support guide documents font style, size, weight, color, and custom HTML/CSS controls. It says unique themes are exclusive to Streamlabs Ultra subscribers; the guide does not make an Ultra subscription a requirement for basic widget setup.

Troubleshoot a viewer count that is missing or misplaced
- The source is blank: Confirm that the full widget URL was pasted into the Browser source’s URL field. Check that the source is enabled and visible in the selected scene.
- The widget is clipped or too small: Adjust the Browser source’s width and height, then reposition or resize it in the canvas. The default 800 × 600 viewport may not fit the widget’s layout.
- It appears in one scene but not another: Make sure the widget source is present and visible in the scene being previewed or streamed.
- The page looks stale: Use OBS’s cache refresh control for the Browser source. OBS also offers options to unload a source when hidden or refresh it when its scene becomes active; behavior can depend on those settings.
- A platform toggle is missing: Check the current options in the Streamlabs Dashboard. The official support guide and product page do not show identical platform lists.
OBS documents Browser Source for Windows and macOS, and Linux through official packages. Source properties and application labels can change, so if your version uses different wording, look for the Browser source’s URL, viewport, visibility, and refresh controls.
