Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsCompare screenshot APIs by the cost of the successful, uncached outputs you actually need—not just the plan’s advertised quota. Start with the right capture quality and billing rules, then calculate: (monthly plan fee + expected overage + applicable taxes and fees) ÷ expected successful, billable, uncached outputs. A screenshot, full-page capture, PDF, or other artifact may count differently, so verify each provider’s billing definition before comparing.
Calculate the cost for your workload
First estimate how many outputs you need in a typical month and what the service will bill for those outputs. The simple calculation below is a useful starting point, not a claim that providers use identical billing units:
Effective cost per needed image = (monthly plan fee + expected overage + applicable taxes and fees) ÷ expected successful, billable, uncached outputs.
Use your expected billable outputs in the denominator, not automatically the plan’s included quota. If you need 3,000 outputs but a plan includes 2,000, include the stated overage for the additional 1,000. If some requests are cached and free under the provider’s rules, model those separately rather than counting them as paid renders.

Do not mistake included-quota arithmetic for your actual rate
Dividing a subscription fee by its included quota gives a quick baseline. It does not account for overage, tax, cache hits, failures, or whether a plan can produce the capture you need. For example, $17 divided by 2,000 is $0.0085 per included screenshot as arithmetic; it is not necessarily what every successful output will cost at your workload.
Compare published plan examples
The following prices and quotas were listed on provider pages on October 3, 2026. They are provider-published examples, not independently tested rates, and plans may change. The per-unit figures are arithmetic from the listed monthly price and included volume; they are not vendor-quoted unit prices. Compare only after checking that the plans fit the same capture job.

This table is not a universal cheapest-to-most-expensive ranking. It mixes currencies, tiers, capture capabilities, tax treatment, cache rules, and billing definitions. ScreenshotOne and Urlbox prices exclude VAT; Screenshot Machine lists prices in euros. Do not compare euros with dollars without a dated exchange rate and stated conversion method.
Check the billing rules that change the result
What event counts as a billable output?
Ask whether billing is triggered by a returned image, an attempted request, or another event—and whether PDFs, full-page images, or distinct parameter combinations use different units. ScreenshotOne says only successful renders count, but notes that an image with a visual issue can still count even though qualifying request errors do not. Urlbox defines a successful render as an image returned and says failed requests are not charged. These definitions are not interchangeable: a technically returned but visually defective image may still be billable.
How do cache hits, misses, and refreshes work?
Check cache lifetime, what makes a cache key unique, whether a forced refresh bypasses cached content, and whether the API endpoint and any shareable-link endpoint have the same rules. ScreenshotOne says cached responses do not consume credits in the cases it describes; a cache miss can trigger a rerender and count. Urlbox says Render Links are cached for 30 days by default and cached Render Link requests do not count against quota, while first renders and REST API requests do. Screenshot Machine lists unlimited cached impressions. Do not assume those policies apply to every request path or refresh behavior.

How are errors, retries, and visual defects treated?
Establish whether timeouts, blocked pages, bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, and client retries consume quota. Then distinguish those from a successful response with an incomplete or undesirable image. A provider’s definition of “success” determines whether a visually poor render is refundable or billable; test representative sites before committing to a tier if the quality threshold matters.
Match capture requirements before comparing unit costs
A low arithmetic cost is not useful if the tier cannot handle the pages you need. Define the job first, then compare providers that meet it.
- Scope: viewport or full page; a single element or the entire page; static pages or pages that need JavaScript to finish.
- Site coverage: whether the provider supports the third-party sites you need, including any blocking or anti-bot constraints. Do not assume every plan handles every site equally.
- Output: PNG, JPEG, WebP, PDF, or another artifact, with required dimensions, page settings, and image quality.
- Rendering controls: device and viewport emulation, retina scale, wait conditions, cookies, headers, user agent, geolocation, or custom scripts where needed.
- Operations: throughput and burst limits, support, reliability commitments, storage, and integration needs for production workloads.
Plan labels can signal meaningful differences rather than simple volume tiers: Urlbox distinguishes Lo-Fi, Hi-Fi, and Ultra and describes different third-party site coverage; ScreenshotOne describes screenshot and rendering features across tiers. Check the current plan descriptions for the precise feature and eligibility limits relevant to your pages: Urlbox and ScreenshotOne.

Build a like-for-like monthly estimate
- Write down the monthly demand. Estimate requested outputs and how many unique pages or option combinations will need a fresh render.
- Define the unit. Confirm whether your planned output is billed as a screenshot, render, PDF, or another artifact, and how full-page captures and retries are counted.
- Filter out plans that fail your requirements. Match fidelity, site coverage, formats, viewport or device needs, and operational constraints before comparing price.
- Apply each provider’s cache and failure rules. Estimate paid cache misses, free cache hits, excluded failures, and any billable visual defects from your expected use.
- Calculate the bill at your volume. Add the plan fee and expected overage, then applicable tax or fees. Divide by the successful, billable, uncached outputs you need.
- Check a low- and high-volume case. A tier that is economical at average demand may become costly during a campaign, backlog, or batch job. Include the marginal overage price where published.
- Keep currency and date visible. Record the price-check date and currency. If conversion is necessary, state the exchange-rate date and method rather than silently mixing currencies.
ScreenshotNeo: an alternative to try first
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. It comes first as a comparison option because it removes consent banners and other clutter before capture, bills only clean shots, and has a paid plan starting at $5 for 3,000 shots.
Its plans are Free with 1,000 shots/month and no card, Starter at $5 for 3,000, Growth at $15 for 15,000, Pro at $39 for 60,000, Scale at $99 for 250,000, and Business at $249 for 1,000,000; yearly billing gives two months free. Every feature is on every plan. Those figures are ScreenshotNeo’s published plan facts, not a comparison adjusted for tax or a claim that all providers define a shot identically.
ScreenshotNeo says cookie and consent banners are accepted like a visitor and more than 60 known consent platforms are removed; newsletter popups and chat widgets can also be removed, and each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing. Responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents and MCP clients.

Common pricing-comparison mistakes
- Choosing by fee divided by quota alone: this ignores overage, taxes, cache behavior, and whether the included plan fits your capture job.
- Treating all errors as free: read the provider’s exact billable-event definition, including how it handles a returned image with visual defects.
- Assuming cache policies are universal: endpoints, first renders, refreshes, cache misses, and expiry can be billed differently.
- Mixing currencies or ignoring VAT: preserve the listed currency and tax exclusion rather than presenting false precision.
- Filling in missing billing terms: ScreenshotAPI.net’s cited official listing provides headline price and quota values, but detailed overage and cache rules are not stated there. Its effective cost cannot be settled from those figures alone.
- Comparing unlike tiers: a plan with a lower calculated per-output value may have different fidelity, site eligibility, or functionality.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does “price per captured image” mean if cached requests are free?
Use the number of billable, uncached outputs for the effective-cost denominator, and separately account for the total outputs your application needs. State both figures when cache behavior materially affects the estimate.
Can I identify a universally cheapest screenshot API from published plan prices?
No. A meaningful comparison requires the same workload, billing unit, cache and failure assumptions, capture requirements, tax treatment, and currency.
