To save an Apify website screenshot as a PDF, run an Apify Store Actor that explicitly supports PDF output, choose PDF in its input settings, then download the generated file from that run’s output or storage link. The exact fields and download location depend on the Actor, so check its current Store page before running it.
Save a website screenshot as a PDF in Apify Console
- Choose an Actor that supports PDF. Open its Apify Store page and confirm that PDF is a supported output. For example, Website Screenshot Generator documents PDF as an
outputFormatoption. - Enter the page URL. Use the Actor’s input form to supply the website address. For multiple pages, follow that Actor’s documented input format.
- Select PDF. Set its output format to PDF. Field names and available print settings differ by Actor.
- Run the Actor. Wait for the run to complete, then inspect its output in Apify Console.
- Download the file. Follow the file link or storage details documented by that Actor. The cited Screenshot Generator says generated files are saved in the run’s key-value store, with metadata in the default dataset; other Actors may expose files differently.

Understand PDF layout versus a full-page screenshot
A PDF is not necessarily a tall image placed inside a PDF file. The cited Screenshot Generator says its PDF output uses the browser’s print layout and ignores the Actor’s screenshotType setting. As a result, a full-page image option should not be assumed to determine how the PDF is paginated.
- If the Actor offers PDF options, use them to set paper size, orientation, or background rendering as needed.
- If the result must look exactly like one long screenshot, select an image output instead. Convert that image to PDF separately only if a PDF container is required.
Automate an Apify screenshot Actor with its API
For a repeatable workflow, use the API instructions on the chosen Actor’s API tab. For example, the Tidytools Website Screenshot PDF Markdown API page describes submitting Actor input to an Apify run endpoint; it states that an Apify account and API token are required. Once a run finishes, its default dataset can be previewed in Apify Console or read through the API, according to that listing.

Do not assume another Actor uses the same endpoint, input fields, or output structure. Use that Actor’s current API tab and schema, and check where it exposes the PDF file: dataset records and downloadable files are not interchangeable.
Common problems and fixes
- There is no PDF option. The selected Actor may only provide image output. Choose one whose current Store listing expressly supports PDF.
- The run completed, but no PDF is obvious. Check the Actor’s documented run output and storage links. For the cited Screenshot Generator, look in the run’s key-value store; its default dataset holds metadata.
- The PDF is paginated or does not match full-page image settings. PDF rendering can use print layout. Look for PDF-specific paper and orientation settings, or capture an image if the required result is one continuous page.
- An API request fails or returns an unexpected result. Confirm that you used the selected Actor’s API instructions, supplied its required input schema, and authenticated as documented. The Tidytools listing requires an Apify account and API token.
