If your YouTube livestream is still running, a Content ID claim on its archive usually will not appear yet. YouTube says it makes claims on archived livestreams after the stream ends, if you choose to archive the video. Once the archive exists, check YouTube Studio > Content > Claims, then open the video’s claim details under Restrictions.
Find a Content ID claim on your livestream archive
- Wait for the stream to end and confirm that YouTube created an archive. YouTube’s post-stream claim process applies if the video is archived; without an archive, there is no archived video to inspect through this workflow. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
- On a desktop, open YouTube Studio > Content.
- Use the filter bar to select Claims, then locate the archived stream.
- In the video’s Restrictions column, hover over Claims and choose See details.
- To check who made the claim, open Content used > See details in the claim details.
YouTube also says it emails creators when a video receives a claim. The desktop workflow and claimant details are described in YouTube’s guide to copyright claims.
Using the YouTube Studio app on Android
Open the Studio app, go to Content, select the video with a copyright restriction, then open Restrictions > Review issues and select the claim. App labels can vary by version; YouTube’s desktop instructions provide the clearest path when you need to inspect the claim.

Why you may not see a claim while live
YouTube distinguishes a claim on an archived livestream from real-time Content ID matching during a livestream. The archived-video claim is made after the broadcast ends, if it is archived. YouTube’s official live-stream copyright guidance states: “Content ID claims are only made after you complete your live streams, if you decide to archive the video.”

Real-time matching is a separate feature for eligible partners with YouTube Studio Content Manager access. It helps identify copies of their live streams; it is enabled for eligible content at the streaming-channel level. YouTube says, “No claims are created.” Instead, the streamer may receive a warning, and the stream can be replaced with a placeholder image or interrupted or terminated. Track policies do not work in this live-matching process. These details are in YouTube’s live Content ID matching documentation.
What to do if the archive exists but no claim appears
- Check that you are looking at the completed stream’s archive, not the live broadcast or another video.
- Recheck the archive’s Restrictions and Claims status, and look for YouTube’s claim email.
- If you received a notice but Studio still shows no matching claim, YouTube’s cited guidance does not promise a fixed processing delay or describe a separate missing-claim queue for ordinary creators. If the notice and Studio continue to conflict, use Creator Support if it is available to your account.
- Do not dispute a claim simply because it is difficult to locate. First confirm the claimant, the content identified, and the restriction. An unfamiliar claimant name alone does not prove the claim is invalid.
If the stream stopped or was interrupted before it ended, that is not proof that an archived-video claim exists. Check YouTube’s warning and your Studio dashboard for any strike-related status. Live scanning can warn, replace the stream with a placeholder image, or interrupt or terminate it; a claim on an archive is a different process.

Claim, takedown, and strike are different
A Content ID claim applies a rights holder’s policy to a video. Depending on that policy, the video may be blocked, monetized, or tracked, and the result can differ by country or region. A copyright takedown is a removal request; a copyright strike is a separate channel or account enforcement status. Claims usually do not affect the channel or account, although a strike on an active or archived livestream may disable live-streaming access. See YouTube’s explanation of copyright claims and its live-stream copyright guidance.
