Neither is universally better for YouTube: StreamYard is the stronger fit to evaluate for a browser-based show built around guests, branded layouts, and straightforward production controls. Restream is the stronger fit to evaluate when multichannel distribution or an external encoder such as OBS is central to your workflow. If you only publish to YouTube, compare the studio and recording features you need and the plan limits you will actually pay for—not the destination counts alone.

Which one should you choose for YouTube?
Choose StreamYard to evaluate for a guest-led, branded show
StreamYard is a sensible starting point if you want to assemble a show in a browser studio, bring participants on screen, use branded graphics and layouts, and manage production without making an external encoder the center of the setup. Its plans describe overlays, logos, backgrounds, video clips, layouts, local recordings, cloud recording, and on-screen participants. Availability varies by plan: do not assume every listed feature is included in Free or Core. The Advanced plan listing adds local 4K recordings and an On-Air webinar limit.
Its multistreaming is paid, and the documented destination caps are three on Core, eight on Advanced, and ten on Business. Check the plan you intend to buy, including included seats and destination count, rather than assuming the studio’s feature list applies across every tier.

Choose Restream to evaluate for multichannel distribution or OBS
Restream is a sensible starting point if publishing the same program to multiple destinations is a key part of your plan, or if you want to send output from OBS or another third-party streaming tool into a distribution workflow. Its documented channel limits are two on Free, three on Standard, five on Professional, eight on Business, and 25 or more on Enterprise. Facebook Pages, Groups, and custom RTMP destinations require a paid plan, according to its help documentation.
Restream also describes a browser-based Studio with graphics, guest invitations, and viewer-comment interaction. A Restream-authored comparison page contains some guest and chat figures that may not match current plan entitlements, so verify those specific caps against current official plan or help information before relying on them.

If YouTube is your only destination
Both services support YouTube, so destination breadth may not decide the purchase. Compare the guest, branding, recording, and control workflow you prefer, then check that the chosen plan includes those features. If you do not need multistreaming, a larger destination limit is not itself a reason to pay more.
Compare plan limits and total cost before subscribing
Count the destinations you will use at the same time, including any non-YouTube destinations you actually need. Restream’s documented paid tiers step from three to five, eight, and 25+ channels; StreamYard documents three, eight, and ten destinations on Core, Advanced, and Business, respectively. StreamYard’s free plan does not include multistreaming, while Restream documents two channels on its free plan. Confirm whether a destination type you need—especially a Facebook Page, Group, or custom RTMP destination—is supported on the Restream plan you are considering.

Where StreamNeo fits—and where it does not
StreamNeo is an alternative to consider only if your goal is different: keeping a YouTube channel live continuously by looping uploaded video. It is not a replacement for a live browser studio, guest interviews, or camera-based production. For that prerecorded 24/7 use case, StreamNeo is #1: it runs from the cloud, plays your uploads at their original quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day.
Run a prerecorded YouTube stream from the cloud
- Upload a recording or build a playlist in StreamNeo.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud.
Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. The service automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Every slot includes 10 GB of storage, pooled across active slots, and support from the StreamNeo team. The same product is included on every plan; only the billing length changes. The first day is free with no card, with one free day per account.

What this comparison can—and cannot—tell you
The available documentation supports a workflow-based choice: StreamYard’s described studio tools suit a guest-oriented, branded browser production, while Restream’s channel tiers and external-encoder documentation suit multistream distribution and OBS-based workflows. It does not establish that either service is universally easier to use, more reliable, faster, or higher quality. Feature lists and vendor comparisons are not independent performance tests.
