Sometimes—but not always immediately. YouTube generally requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days, and the person livestreaming must be at least 16. YouTube says enabling livestreaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours. If you want to stream from the YouTube mobile app, there is an additional requirement: at least 50 subscribers. The general eligibility guidance does not state that subscriber minimum for computer streaming.
Check your channel’s eligibility first
YouTube’s general rule is that a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube also sets a minimum age of 16 for livestreaming. See YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.
Verification is tied to phone verification: YouTube lists live streaming among the features unlocked by verifying a channel. Check your status in YouTube Studio under Settings > Channel > Feature eligibility. Available features and labels may vary as YouTube updates Studio.

No. YouTube’s mobile livestreaming instructions require at least 50 subscribers to stream from the YouTube mobile app. Its general livestreaming eligibility guidance does not state a subscriber minimum for livestreaming overall. Do not treat the mobile threshold as a requirement for computer-based streaming. See YouTube Help: Create a live stream on mobile and YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.

Choose a streaming method
Streaming from a phone
To use the YouTube mobile app, the channel needs at least 50 subscribers, verification, and no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days. Livestreaming must also be enabled. For the first mobile stream, YouTube says, “Starting your first live stream may take up to 24 hours.” This is a possible activation delay, not a guarantee that every channel will be ready exactly 24 hours later.
Streaming from a computer
YouTube lists webcam, encoder, and console streaming as options. A webcam stream requires a computer with a webcam; an encoder or console offers a different setup. Start by checking verification, age, feature activation, and restriction status. YouTube’s general eligibility page does not list a general subscriber minimum. Learn about the available methods in YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.

If you still cannot go live
- Check Feature eligibility in YouTube Studio. Look for whether livestreaming is enabled and whether YouTube shows any account limitation.
- Confirm how you are trying to stream. If using the mobile app, verify that the channel has at least 50 subscribers. That threshold is specific to mobile livestreaming.
- Allow for activation time. If you just enabled livestreaming, YouTube says the first mobile stream may take up to 24 hours to start.
- Review account notices and restrictions. A recent live restriction can make the channel ineligible even if it is verified.
Restrictions that can block or limit a stream
YouTube requires livestreams to follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, and it can restrict access to livestreaming. A livestreaming strike prevents streaming for 14 days. YouTube also prohibits using another channel to evade an active restriction; do not try to bypass a restriction this way. See YouTube Help: Community Guidelines strikes.
