How much time the diversion may add
Traffic Scotland confirms the diversion roads but does not state a distance or additional journey time. The Press and Journal described the diversion as 40 miles, while STV News called it near 40 miles. STV also reported that the detour could add up to one hour and 20 minutes to journeys. That is a possible maximum reported impact, not a guaranteed delay or an average for every driver.
What is known about reopening
Highland Council’s roads team was removing slipped material and assessing the repairs needed. The Press and Journal quoted a council spokesperson saying after an engineer’s inspection that the road would remain closed overnight, with a further assessment planned to determine whether one lane could safely reopen. STV News later reported that a council Facebook post said the A855 at Indrigill Bend would remain closed over the weekend.
