PUBG Studios canceló el desarrollo de PUBG: Black Budget el 1 de octubre de 2026, antes de que el juego tuviera fecha de lanzamiento. El estudio explicó que, tras revisar el estado y el rumbo del proyecto, consideró difícil ofrecer una experiencia que los jugadores pudieran disfrutar a largo plazo. El anuncio supone otro cierre de un spin-off de PUBG en 2026, pero no demuestra que ambos cierres compartan una causa.
Por qué PUBG Studios canceló Black Budget
La explicación oficial fue una evaluación de la dirección del proyecto, no una causa financiera o una respuesta atribuida a los jugadores. En la actualización citada por Aju Press, PUBG Studios dijo: “After reviewing the project’s development status and future direction, we judged that the current direction would make it difficult to deliver an experience players can enjoy for a long time.”
En español: tras revisar el estado de desarrollo y la dirección futura, el estudio juzgó que con el rumbo actual sería difícil ofrecer una experiencia disfrutable durante mucho tiempo. Qué juego era Black Budget
PUBG: Black Budget iba a ser un shooter de extracción en primera persona con combates PvPvE. La acción transcurría en Coli, una isla atrapada en un bucle temporal, donde los contratistas debían saquear una instalación de investigación e intentar llegar a un punto de extracción.

Qué significa el cierre frente al de PUBG: Blindspot
La comparación que da contexto a la expresión «segundo mazazo» es PUBG: Blindspot, otro spin-off distinto que cerró en 2026. Según PC Gamer, su acceso anticipado comenzó el 5 de febrero y el servicio terminó el 30 de marzo. Blindspot era un shooter de vista cenital, no un juego de extracción.

Los materiales de resultados de KRAFTON del tercer trimestre de 2022 mencionaban un proyecto llamado Project Black Budget. Esa referencia corporativa no debe confundirse con la revelación pública posterior del juego bajo el nombre PUBG: Black Budget: son hitos distintos de la historia del proyecto.

La cancelación de Black Budget no responde a esa pregunta. No hay en las fuentes citadas una clasificación fechada que confirme que PUBG fuera el juego más jugado de Steam en el momento del anuncio. Además, una afirmación así necesita precisar la métrica —por ejemplo, jugadores simultáneos— y el momento al que corresponde, porque las posiciones cambian.
