How to choose the right gaming PC
Start with your resolution and graphics card
PC Gamer hardware writer Jacob Fox advises: “Start by choosing a graphics card.” Decide whether your priority is 1080p, high-refresh 1440p or 4K, then compare PCs with GPUs appropriate to that target. In these picks, the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 occupy the extreme and high-end positions; the RTX 5070 Ti and RX 9070 are options for strong 1440p and some 4K use; the RTX 4060 Ti is the budget-tier choice for 1080p and workable 1440p. Those are tier descriptions, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate in every game or setting.
Balance the processor, memory and storage
Once the GPU fits your target, compare the rest of the system. The X3D processors in the top tiers suit gaming-focused builds. PC Gamer’s current buying guidance recommends ideally choosing 32GB of DDR5 and at least a 1TB NVMe SSD, preferably 2TB. The Chronos and Scale Orange reduce memory to 16GB and storage to 1TB, while the Reactor and LCGS View provide 32GB and 2TB. Lower memory and storage capacity can help keep a system’s price down, but leaves less room for demanding workloads and a growing game library.

Check cooling, power and upgrade options
A high-power graphics card makes the supporting components important. Before purchase, look for the power supply’s rating, case airflow and cooling details; the Reactor and Chronos configurations described by TechGuided include 360mm AIO coolers. Also check the motherboard’s CPU socket, open memory slots and M.2 slots, along with warranty coverage and the seller’s return policy. As PC Gamer notes, upgrading later can cost more than getting the configuration you need at the outset.
Prices and availability change by listing
A model name alone does not guarantee a fixed component list or price. Retailers may offer different configurations under similar names, and stock and estimated shipping dates can change. CyberPowerPC’s live catalog is one example of a vendor listing named systems alongside current prices and estimated ship dates; treat any live listing as specific to its configuration and time rather than as a stable market-wide price.
