It supported major CAD and manufacturing workflows—including AutoCAD 2006, MicroStation V8, Gerber, ODB++, and EDIF—and added measurement, bill-of-materials, board-viewing, and 3-D comparison tools. AutoVue 19 is a historical release, not a current product version.
What was AutoVue 19?
AutoVue 19 was collaborative visualization software from Cimmetry Systems Corporation, then an Agile Software subsidiary. It was designed to let people across an enterprise—and customers, suppliers, or other partners outside it—view, mark up, measure, and discuss engineering documents without relying on a separate viewer for each file type or routinely converting the original files.
The software exposed native CAD geometry, object-level attributes, and product structures for review. Its purpose was not to replace the tools used to create engineering designs, but to make those designs accessible to a broader group of reviewers.
What files and workflows did AutoVue 19 support?
Cimmetry’s October 2005 release information named support for AutoCAD 2006 and MicroStation V8, as well as Acrobat 7. For electronics and manufacturing workflows, it cited Gerber, ODB++, and EDIF systems. These are formats and applications specifically identified for the release; the available information does not establish an exhaustive format-compatibility list.

AutoVue’s native-file approach was intended to let reviewers inspect CAD and manufacturing documents without first converting them to a common format. Whether a particular file could be opened depended on its format and the version supported by AutoVue; the listed compatibility does not mean every CAD or PCB file was supported.
What did AutoVue 19 add?
- Minimum-distance measurement: tools for measuring the minimum distance between geometry.
- Improved board-entity viewing: enhancements for inspecting entities in board-related design documents.
- Multipage bill-of-materials generation: the ability to generate bills of materials spanning multiple pages.
- 3-D comparison: comparison that could detect non-graphical file properties at assembly or part level, in addition to visual differences.
Together, these additions served review tasks that go beyond simply displaying a drawing: checking clearances, inspecting board content, reviewing product structure, and identifying differences in engineering data.

Why was collaborative visualization useful?
Engineering files often need review by people who do not have the design authoring software or who work for a different organization. A shared viewer can reduce friction by giving those participants access to the original design information for review and markup, rather than requiring a chain of exports and format conversions. For companies coordinating across CAD, electronics design, manufacturing, and office-document workflows, that was AutoVue 19’s central value proposition.
Later coverage of AutoVue 19.2 described a more EDA-focused offering for PCB design and contract manufacturing, with native viewing, markup, secure real-time web collaboration, and support for manufacturing documents, PCB layouts, schematics, and office documents. That later account provides context for the product’s direction; it should not be read as a list of features newly introduced in AutoVue 19.

Is AutoVue 19 still supported?
Oracle’s lifecycle policy identifies AutoVue Enterprise Visualization as “Formerly Cimmetry” and lists AutoVue 19.0 with a September 2005 general-availability date. For version 19.0, the policy lists Premier Support ending in December 2007 and Sustaining Support as indefinite. “Indefinite” is the policy’s lifecycle designation; it is not a promise that every deployment, integration, or customer receives active assistance today. Organizations relying on AutoVue should confirm applicable entitlements and current arrangements directly with Oracle.
The October 13, 2005 launch announcement and Oracle’s September 2005 general-availability date describe different release milestones, so they are not necessarily contradictory.
