To control biometric verification for saved passwords in Chrome on Android, open Chrome > More > Settings > Passwords and Autofill > Autofill settings and switch Verify it’s you when filling sensitive info on or off. First check which autofill provider Chrome uses: that determines where the credentials come from. Android’s Identity Check and passkey settings are separate controls.
Set fingerprint or face verification for Chrome password autofill
Chrome’s sensitive-information setting adds a reauthentication step when filling certain saved information. When enabled, Chrome can request a fingerprint, face scan, or another screen-lock method. Google says this check is on by default unless it has been turned off. If the device does not support biometrics, Chrome uses its default screen lock instead.
- Open Chrome.
- Tap More > Settings.
- Under Passwords and Autofill, tap Autofill settings.
- Turn Verify it’s you when filling sensitive info on or off.
This is Chrome’s control for sensitive autofill verification; it does not choose which password manager supplies your credentials.
Check the autofill provider Chrome uses
Chrome for Android can use Google or another autofill service. If you select another service, Chrome gets autofill data from that third-party provider rather than Google. The third-party service must first be added in Android settings.
#1 Best Overall
- 360 Degree Detection: The Fingerprint Login Key is a 360 degree detection and reading fingerprint, one account can set 10 fingerprints, can be set for multiple accounts, and automatically log in to the account through fingerprints.
- Self Learning Algorithm: USB Fingerprint Reader automatically improve fingerprint information after each successful recognition, adapt to subtle changes in fingerprints, continuously improve the recognition rate, and become more sensitive the more you using.
- Support System: The Laptop Fingerprint Reader supports for 7, for 8, for 10, for 11, for 1Password, for Keeper, for Dashlane, for Enpass, for RoBoForm, for KeePass, for LastPass and other third party software.
- Small and Portable: The biometric fingerprint scanner is small and portable, which can be inserted into the USB port of the computer and used to complete the login and verification on the supported website by identifying the fingerprint.
- 0.5s Recognition: The USB Fingerprint Reader verifies fingerprints in 0.5 seconds, securely protecting your logins and data with an advanced fingerprint security device.
- In Chrome, open Settings > Autofill services.
- Select Autofill with Google or Autofill using another service.
- If prompted after changing services, confirm the change and restart Chrome.
Android manufacturers and versions may use different labels or locations for adding a provider. If you cannot find the relevant control, search the Android Settings app for “password” or “autofill.”
Tell password autofill apart from card autofill
Chrome has a separate Verify it’s you control under Payment methods for payment-card autofill. It is not the password autofill setting above. Google also says the card’s security code is required the first time a card is used.

Understand Android Identity Check
Identity Check is a separate theft-protection feature available only on supported devices. When it is on and you are away from trusted places, it can require biometrics to access saved Google Password Manager passwords and passkeys, and to autofill passwords in apps other than Chrome. Google lists Chrome password and payment autofill among actions for which a PIN, pattern, or password can still be used.
On a supported device, look under Settings > Google > All services > Theft protection > Identity Check. If Identity Check is not listed, Google says the device does not support it. This control does not replace Chrome’s sensitive-info verification preference.

- Instant Windows Hello Integration: Quickly unlock your Windows 10/11 PC with your fingerprint. No need to type passwords—just one touch for fast and secure access. Works directly with Windows Hello, no extra software needed.
- Plug & Play Simplicity: No drivers needed for genuine Windows systems—just plug it in and it works. Automatically recognized in most cases (95%+ compatibility). Tip: Manual driver update may be required for non-genuine systems.
- USB Fingerprint Reader: A compact metal fingerprint scanner for PCs and laptops that makes logging in quick and easy—just plug it into any USB port and start using it. Its ultra-portable design fits perfectly in your laptop bag.
- Microsoft-Certified Security: Fully supports Windows Hello and the Windows Biometric Framework for safe and reliable login. Features high accuracy (0.001% false acceptance / 0.1% false rejection) to keep your data secure. Also supports password and file encryption for most websites.
- Multi-User Flexibility: Store up to 10 fingerprints—perfect for shared devices at home or work. Enjoy fast and smooth access with lightning-speed authentication in under 0.5 seconds.
Keep passkey settings separate
A passkey lets you sign in without entering a password. Its sign-in process uses the device’s screen unlock, which may be a fingerprint, face scan, PIN, or another supported lock method. Choose the passkey manager at Settings > Passwords, passkeys & accounts. That setting selects a passkey manager; it is not Chrome’s password-autofill verification toggle. Not every app or website supports passkeys.
Quick Recap
Rank #4
- Plug and Play: The USB fingerprint reader supports for Wins 10, 11, and above systems, allowing for secure login and preventing unauthorized device access by simply plugging the reader into a USB port, no need for additional software installation.
- Fast Accurate Recognition: Utilizing capacitive fingerprint recognition technology, responds in less than 0.5s. With a simple touch, users can log in quickly without entering complex passwords. 360° all angle recognition offers accuracy that surpasses traditional optical technology, providing a more accurate and sensitive performance.
- Enhanced Security: The portable fingerprint scanner features unique security functions, encrypting and storing the passwords of most websites. It can also be set to automatically encrypt all files within designated folders, accessible via fingerprint. This method is more secure, faster, and efficient compared to saving passwords directly in the browser.
- Adaptive Learning Algorithm: Incorporating advanced fingerprint technology, the reader combines biometric performance with a self learning algorithm and anti spoofing support. The fingerprint information improves automatically with each successful recognition, adapting to subtle changes and continuously enhancing recognition rates. The more you use it, the more sensitive it becomes.
- Compact and Multi User Friendly: Made with ABS material, the scanner is lightweight and compact, easy to use, and supports login for multiple fingerprints and accounts simultaneously. Its flexible configuration allows users to share file security with friends and colleagues better. Each user account can set up to 10 fingerprints and configure fingerprints for multiple accounts.
Troubleshoot missing or unexpected prompts
- No fingerprint or face prompt: Check whether Verify it’s you when filling sensitive info is on. If biometrics are unavailable or not enrolled, Chrome may use the device’s screen lock instead.
- Credentials from the wrong manager: Check Chrome’s selected autofill service and confirm the preferred provider has been added in Android settings.
- An app still asks for biometrics: On a supported device, check whether Identity Check is enabled and whether you are outside a trusted place. It can affect Google Password Manager autofill in apps other than Chrome.
- The prompt appears while filling a card: Look under Chrome’s Payment methods settings; card verification is separate from password verification.
- Your menus do not match these paths: Labels and locations can vary by Android version and phone maker. Search Settings for the named feature; for model-specific directions, the phone maker and Android version matter.
